Wow, what a find - thanks to BeerFly! I wouldn't have thought this was such a gold mine from the outside appearance, but don't let that fool you. This place is huge with aisle after aisle of beer and multiple coolers. A big mix-a-six-pack selection; maybe 100 beers and 30-40 types at any one time. Turnover rate is awesome - I go about 4 times a year and there are always new selections to choose from. The only drawback is that sometimes the beer is starting to get a little old, but overall they're kept new. They have a back part of the store where they keep the hard to find Macro lager can selection. I had never seen Old Milwaukee's, Hamm's, Schaefer, Schlitz, and a few others, got a big kick out of this. The service is very hands-on, knowledgeable, eager, and friendly. During my last visit I was eagerly checking out the mix-a-six-pack selection and the owner informed me that the entire place is part of the mix-a-six-pack. You can browse the aisles and pluck a beer from anywhere to add to your cache! Overall, an amazing place and I look forward to going back soon!

This place use to be the GO TO place for beer. It is now just a sad reflection of what it once was. Went there this last weekend to grab some different stuff for a small beer tasting amongst friends. The selection was sad. Just sad. The shelves were all practically empty, and we had to be extra careful with the bottles that were there as many that we found were many, many months past their expiration dates. That said, they did have a pretty decent quantity of Christmas themed brews...unfortunately, xmas was six months ago. Bottles were covered with dust, and it was just a real pain trying to find anything worth drinking. I heard from a friend that the new owners were having trouble paying the distributors. Seems like that would be an important thing for a liquor store to do. Kinda the point, isn't it? Beyond that, the A/C in the place must have been broke, because it was hot and stuffy. The refrigerators were also just slightly below room temperature. All in all, I have no plans of ever going back. Again, sad.

Oh how times have changed. The once mighty Corral in Granite, once my craft beer home...the place that introduced me to craft beer 10 years ago... the place that was once a destination for miles and STATES around, has now been reduced to an average craft beer store. New ownership took over a few months back, and they have shown absolutely no desire to improve their craft beer selection. This makes me, and many other east side beer drinkers sad. Until I see otherwise, I won't be wasting my time going back to see the same bottles, un-faced shelving and lack of desire. Hopefully, this will all change.

I often go here at night around 8 or 9pm after getting off work. They have an excellent selection of beers. More than I even want to browse through in one stop. I usually just go to the build your own six pack area. They have a rotating selection and each beer is priced individually. I would estimate that they offer between 50 to 100 different beers to choose from for the mixer sixers at one time. Most of the beers in this area are fresh but I still check expirations just in case. Most of the time, there is only one employee at night and the person simply sits near the register and hurries to get you rung up and on your way. I have never had a problem with any of them and they are respectful of the customer's time, they just aren't the friendliest people around. The prices here are fairly reasonable and I love the option to make my own six pack sampler. It's worth a stop if you are in the area.

You get a view of Rust Belt USA on the drive in from I-70. Definitely not a place for ambiance. Nice selection of US and Euro craft beer. Best part is you can buy singles of any beer. I stocked up on Dogfish Head and Victory when I was there. No Three Floyds when I went however. Guy behind the counter was very helpful. Not sure I would make the trip on its own, unless you really wanted Dogfish Head and Victory. Most everything else is available on the Missouri side. We were going to the Cahokia Mounds, so we were in the area.

Corral seems to be the go to place in the St. Louis area for IL exclusive craft such as Three Floyds and a few others.

It seemed to be the best selection in the immediate area, but other stores in STL are competitive if not better. Beer selection was in the back, a couple aisles with endcap displays holding new releases and seasonals. The store showed it's age, from the sun faded Stag banner outside to the worn carpeting inside. Noticed Cantillon Gueuze, but no other traditional Lambics. The clerk said they try to order the full line of Cantillon, and their orders are never filled :( Still, you can get your sour fix here with other quality beers such as 1809 Berliner Weisse. The beer guy was also able to point out what had just came in, including fresh Dreadnaught & Broodoo (get some ;). I left with a sixer of the uber-sessionable Schlafly Pumpkin. They had a couple from Mikkeller, Schlafly Reserve line, but only 3 smokestacks from Boulevard (no limited ones). No Ballast Point or Green Flash either for some reason, which are all over central IL. The selection was pretty large, many imports, lots of full lines from your regular craft breweries, though smaller than Friar Tucks and other chain stores. This independent store had a few gems here and there, so it's still worth a stop.

as noted the best part about this place is that you can put any 12 ounce bottle into a mix six.

not an overall large selection but what's there is high quality.

the service was great. the guy was willing to talk shop. you could tell he knows the difference between those that are there to buy craft beer versus those that are there to buy a case of bud light.

selection wasn't very large but overall high quality. i suppose it's a difficult position to be a beer store on the border of the mississippi river.

value was reasonable.

Not sure why I have never headed up here..its about 20 miles from the house. I guess I didn't know about the build your own 6 pack! I was like a fricken kid in a candy store! Other than the Lunar Ale, that had a sell by date of 3-8-2008 ( its 2-14-2009 now), the beer seemed fresh.

The folks working there were just great, and, the selection was nice. There are times where I want to sample something, without buying a whole 6 pack, and times where, I 'd like to have just a couple.

I have found my new "go-to" store!! Why other local stores do not offer build you own 6er's, I don't know..

Visiting friends in STL, and they took me over the state line to Corral. This place is talked about often in the Midwest forums, and it lived up to everything I have heard. The biggest feature for me was the mix and match. Just grab a carrier and start pulling beers. There is nothing like that on the MO that I've ever seen. Just so much fun. Kid in a candy store for sure. I am defenitely coming back the next time in STL. I was able to get a huge variety of high end beers for a little over $50. Still plenty of stuff to go back for.

The employees were friendly and knew the line between helpful and in the away.

Edit: July 2011 - Under new management. The selection has declined each of my last three visits. The only reason I stop there now is that they have some stuff not available in MO.

Finally made a visit to Corral Liquors. I've had beers from here before in trades. It is easy to find and does look like an usual place to have such great beer. The beer is in the back. I enjoyed the opportunity to make mixer-sixers with anything. I asked a worker how the system worked and she said I could pull from any craft six pack but "not domestics like Budweiser." At that point I laughed and said, "Don't worry I won't be taking any Bud." I built 3 mixers. Here's a list of some of the available breweries: Clipper City, Sierra Nevada, Wild Goose, Two Brothers, Millstream, Dogfish Head, Lagunitas, Tommyknocker, Avery, Anderson Valley and Victory. The imports were also impressive. Quite a few Belgians that I don't see in Missouri or Kansas. At this point I've had no quality issues with any of the beer. It's not easy to get to for me, but when the opportunity arises I will make a stop.
