Somewhat sweet overall, with caramel, fruity notes and spicy rye. The finish is a little bitter and spicy, but also has a little lingering sweetness. Good Rye Pale Ale but doesn't quite gel as well as I had hoped.

Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of roasted malt, spicy rye and sweet caramel. Nice sweet caramel and toffee flavor. There is a touch of spiciness.

i like a rye pale ale these days, and i like one that isnt shy on the rye. too many of these use it as an accent or as a little twist, instead of as a dominant player on the grain side, rye driven. this one really brings it all the way home on the rye side, it has to amount to a fairly large quantity of the grain bill. a little haze and a little copper color to this thing, murkier and a little more raw on the whole than most, and thats okay with me in a beer like this. the rye is evident in both nose and taste, with a lot of white peppery spice and a cool dry intensity to it. the rye ramps up all the way through, and right before it fades at the end, the hops come on. almost ipa-esque in bitterness, and its intense after the rye. like heat on heat, which i think makes it more interesting but less drinkable. i dont really mind, but i made a point to drink this pretty quickly, even with a little bit or warming up it kind of breaks down, but this is a bold brew, not to be taken as nonchalantly as most american pales, there is a lot going on here. well done, but i liked the other beer i had from these guys a little more than this one. a bit abrasive for what it is, but tasty and distinct.

L: Pours gold to amber with a slight haze. A 2” white foam collar takes 2 minutes to drop to 1/3 its original size. Fairly lacy. S: Light rye spice with a hint of pumpernickel on the nose. T: moderate malt supported by citusy hops, rye spice and a moderate bitterness. : F: Medium body and mediu high carbonation. O: A flavorful, easy to drink rye beer.

At BDL. This is an easy drinking rye. The spice is subdued leading to a really drinkable brew. Low on spice high on drink ability. Good for pounding.
