A new gastro pub in downtown Spokane it what used to be a night club.
The District bar is a dark and cozy place with windows along the store, The tables are close together. There are a few booths, and buddy bars. The place looks cobbled together with odd furniture items. There are pool and Foosball tables in the back.
Quality is average. Run of the mill regional micros like Mac and Jack's and some of the usual suspects like Blue Moon. There were a few better beers on tap like Ninkasi Believer Double Red. And then there is the PBR.
Service was good but the place was not busy just after opening at 3 PM..
Selection included 18 different taps, 2 altogether, but half of them dispensed the same beer at each end of the bar. A trait left over from the (high volume) night club no doubt. 12 bottle selections were in a glass cooler at the end of the bar. Limited wine a fair amount of hard liquor.
I didn't try the food bu being a gastro pub it would be trendy and high end.
Value is questionable depending on time of day. $6 pints at regular price according to the chalk board, and you have to pay for parking too. Happy hour was pleasantly discounted at $3 per pint.
Overall there are better places, but I might be inclined to stop by the District again if I was in the neighborhood, in the afternoon, with some quarters for the parking meter. I recommend before nightfall in this part of town.
