Brewery that has opened up in the last 12 months, located in Holgate in an industrial complex, but also known as Erina. Just over an hour drive from Sydney. Visited with danieelol and heygeebee.
Pretty large pre-formed concrete building that has had a fair bit of attention paid inside, with wall murals to really liven it up and a mood-lit bar to make it feel like you weren't just walking into a brewery to grab samples, that you could feel comfortable staying for a few beers. Impressive fit out with the bathrooms to, nice and clean. With the logo the shape of a guitar pick, it made sense with a fair bit of 70's rock playing on the sound system with artists like Neil Young on the rotation.
Inside there's about 5 timber bench tables along with a couple of Chesterfield sofas and a bar and bench to sit at. Can accommodate quite a few inside. We were the first there for Sunday lunchtime and with a guitarist starting at 3pm, there were quite a few inside by about then.
Service was relaxed, friendly and around often to clear the tables. Happy to talk about what's on tap, what they had just run out of and what was coming up next.
Impressed with the food. A not so big kitchen next to the bar, called Big Jim's Smokehouse, it was US based with nothing more than $9 in price. Ribs, Reubens, Burgers. A handful of options, all were big, hearty and messy, but fun and comfort food.
There were 5 beers on tap: Hefe, Pale Ale, Golden Ale (about 3% ABV), Saison and Imperial Stout. Prices ranged from $2 to $3.5 for a sample (about 7oz) or 4 samples for $10. Otherwise, about a 14oz stemmed glass for between $4.70 for the Golden Ale, $6-$8 for most of the others and $11 for the Imperial Stout. The beers were ok, nothing really to write home about. The Hefeweizen was my pick.
Tap fills were there for the growlers, they were happy to give them another clean too before filling. Shame there was no counter pressure, but prices were good, ranging from $6.50 - $10.50 for 1L fills of most of the range ($17 for Imperial Stout) and $12.50 - $20 ($30 for the Imperial Stout). Prices were fantastic for Australia.
Good range of merchandise for sale inside from Trucker caps, shaker pints, shirts, growlers and koozies.
Worth going for a fun road trip with others from Sydney, especially considering its the closest brewery to Sydney that i can think of where you can sit in it and have a few beers and something to eat. Hopefully the beers will improve over time. Well priced and well done inside.

Visited before midday on cold sunny winter day with MrKennedy and Danieelol.
This brewery cum eatery is located well in the backblocks of Erina, near Gosford. Not that easy to find in an industrial estate. Look for the plectrum signs.
Unassuming(!) from the outside, the place is a revelation inside. Typical inside-aircraft-hanger approach is well softened by polished trestle tables, a comfy lounge, and bar stool areas. The wooden bar is well finished, and thoughtful lighting is a wonderful extra in terms of ambience. I was told it gets busy Friday and Saturday nights and from 2.30 or so on Sundays when a guitarist plays. Lots of guitar based music over the PA otherwise.
Staff are very helpful, tho lets stress this is NOT aimed as a beer nerd venue.
Five or so beers on tap, hef, pale, golden, RIS etc. Two empty taps today. All solid if not spectacular, with the hef being a standout, and the RIS holding its own nicely.
Growler fills are a giveaway pricewise, from $6.50 a squealer, and they fill other branded growlers.
Food? try $9 for ribs... yes! served albeit on a plastic plate, or $7 for a massive burger roll.
The place is a real find given the area. A constant stream of young familes and young people with a growler in one hand and a well-priced tasting paddle in the other tells the story of a business that will grow as the awareness increases, and the beers move from solid up the scale.
