Poured from a Bomber into a Russian River Globe on 3/22/11.

Pours a clear golden color with 2 fingers of fluffy white head that leaves a thin white lacing all over the glass.

Smell takes a little warming to come out so don't drink it super cold out of the fridge. I can smell some malt, hops and a little fruity flower smell but the smell is very faint even after leting it warm a little.

Taste is well balanced like the label says not to much malt no to much hops. but the taste is so well balanced that the malt and hops cancels each other out leaving the taste flat and uninteresting.

Mouth feel is very light almost no bitterness at first and the slightest resin cover bitterness left over. Again not a lot going on with this one.

Drinkability is good at 5.5 ABV. It goes down easy but with so many other pales out there that are much better and more available I can't really recommend this one other then to just give it a one and done.

From 22 oz bomber to pint glass

A: Straw-yellow in color, effervescent. Forms a tight little head that leaves little patches of lacing.

S: Touch of citrus meets floral hop notes. Earthy, cracker-y notes run-up against slightly sweet bready notes. Fairly subdued nose overall.

T: Dry citrus-rind balanced by grassy notes and a touch of honey sweetness. Very dry. Woody aspects in the middle, almost salty. Did I say dry? Finishes short and dry with lingering bitterness.

M: Medium-bodied, prickly carbonation throughout.

This isn't a bad beer, but it tastes more like a nondescript lager than an Alpine treat. Definitely grading on a curve here...I suspect they're brewing for the masses, but for a beer geek or a hophead I don't see the point given Alpine's limited distribution. Alpine makes one of the best Pale's you'll ever come across in Hoppy Birthday, it's too bad that's not as available as this one is.

Appearance: Very good, summer golden orange with an enormous overflowing head. Strong hoppy, citrus nose. Big bitter element. Not sure if I got a bad bottle or what, but way over-carbonated and a tad sour. Certainly plenty of hops for an APA though, that I could tell.

This was on tap at Liars' Club, served in a pint glass. Looked very nice with a golden light orange color. The smell and the taste were just way too lacking for me. I couldn't detect an oz. of hops in the aroma and neither in the taste. It was very grainy and definitely very light. There was nothing about this beer that would want to make me order it again, although it does deliver as a light, low taste alternative to something like a standard light lager or something.

Thanks to hopdog for sharing this...
Appears a light gold with a small white head and scattered lacing. Tiny carbonation and white lacing and a small collar.
Smell is of light citrusy hops with mixed malts. Not a whole lot jumping out.
Taste is about the same impact of the aroma. Some light citrus and grassy hops and a light malt backbone that seems to balance it out but doesn't really bring it into an upper echelon.
Mouthfeel is balanced but grainy. Medium bodied brew which I'm trying to analyze too much and not getting much inspiration.
Drinkability is ok. I probably wouldn't run to this one again. Maybe it's just me but this seemed very average, even for an American Pale Ale.

No date on bottle...

Large flowing white pillow head. Loosely packed soapy foam. Brew has nice orange clarity. Moderate lacing.

Bready and clearly crystal. A bit of a malt bomb missing much hop. Dry and bland.

Zero sharpness. watery, dry, earthy, missing hops flavors. Very mild grapefruit flavor, very hidden and laid back. Tons of caramel/crystal malt. Belgian sugars too. Sweetness is mild, bitterness is existent, but not pronounced. Carbonation overwhelms the flavors and appropriate dryness..

A disappointing brew from Alpine; nothing memorable. Worthy, but not worth seeking.

A: A very clean dark golden orange body with a very nice snow white head. Very sticky, very nice.

S: Soapy with hints of orange, malts and a mellow caramel aroma.

T: Begins a bit soapy with some minor grapefruit, tangerine and honey notes. Continues somewhat herbal, a bit buttery with thoughts of fresh grass clippings. Pronounced grainy aftertaste with a subtle toffee notes. Soapiness unfortunately continues thru the entire process.

M: Medium body with good carbonation

D: Pretty straight forward beer. Nothing special but nothing really detracting.

Served in a pint glass.

A- Dark pilsner with 2" dense white head and good lacing.

S- Sweet pilsner malts. Very faint pine hops.

T- Sweet amber malts. Maybe some rye? Hop are very lax in this beer for a pale ale.

M- Light bodied. Low carbonation and very east to drink.

O- Tastes more like a ale than a pale ale, but a good easy drinking beer.
