Style | ABV
American Double / Imperial IPA |  11.00% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
This Hop Monster uses multiple kettle hop additions with the technique of doubling the hop amount each addition (exponentially). Add in the hop back and the continuous dry hopping and your starting to get the picture. The beer is finished off with a "body-bag" sized hop-bag full of hop cones and oak chips. There it ages and mellows, disguising the alcohol content for a double strong, incredibly hoppy, yet drinkable beer.

Slighty hazy golden-amber brew, just enough to keep it from being completely transparent. Big off-white head with nice retention, leaving tons of lacing.

Big, complex hoppy aroma, with ruby red grapefruit, lemon, pine, resin, and starfruit. Just a hint of malt aroma.

Intensely sweet and juicy flavor, focusing on tropical hops: pineapple, peach, and a bit of pine and citrus. Syrupy sweet malt body, more pale than caramel.

Undeniable booze presence. Very lively, sticky, syrupy, and boozy.

A super hoppy, big, and bold triple IPA. Reminds me quite a bit of Sixpoint's Hi-Res. This is a hair smoother, coming across less as pure hop juice and more as an enormous IPA.

Poured a caramel, honey, murky color with three fingers of khaki cream rocky head. Lots of various streams of bubbles coming up from the bottom. Great layered lacing along the sides of the glass. Excellent retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 4.38)

Smelled hops galore - Citra, spicy Simcoe, floral, grapefruit, tropical, mango, grapefruit rind, resin, faint Cascade and caramel. Some spicy bitterness late, but didn’t taste anywhere near 11 percent ABV. (Smell - 4.38)

Wow to the taste. Pretty damn smooth for 11 percent ABV was my first thought. Not as potent as the smell. Citra, floral, light resin, bitter grapefruit, tropical, mango, light pineapple (wishful?), Columbus and light Cascade. (Taste - 4.50)

Medium body. Creamy-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter, but still smooth finish. Warming late. The 11 percent ABV is very well-hidden. This was the best part of the beer. (Feel - 4.63)

A pretty damn good beer. Probably didn’t quite live up to my hype, but glad I have another after this. (Overall - 4.38)
