Notes/Commercial Description:
A West Coast IPA that features Amarillo and Simcoe hops "in harmony," giving a light, floral aroma. Duet is nicely bitter with the perfect amount of malt concealed behind the hoppy goodness. Immensely drinkable, amazingly light on its feet.

Received this one from BA mohaghandi as an extra in a recent trade. Enjoyed out of a 22 oz brown bomber with no dating that I can find on the bottle to indicate when it was bottled or by when it should be enjoyed. Poured into the Speigelau IPA-specific glass.

Appearance - Poured with standard aggressiveness, which yields a creamy two-finger eggshell colored head consisting of mostly small, densely-packed bubbles. Retention is quite good, with the head never completely receding, instead settling as a half-finger buffer atop the body. That body is a slightly hazy blend of brassy amber and saturated carrot orange, with the darker hue residing in the bulbous part of the glass, and the lighter hue in the ridged base. There is sticky, sparse lacing on the sides of the glass as I drink the liquid down, but doesn't quite reach the level of full on rings.

Smell - Wonderfully fragrant notes of tropical fruit--mostly mango--alongside more pungent aromas of tangerine and citrus zest. To be honest, it's the impression of more the sweeter side of the citrus spectrum, with not much in the way of grapefruit or pith. Maybe some blood orange as well? There is a nice bready malt base under the tropical-citrus explosion, but it stays out of the way.

Taste - A lot of the same characteristics as the smell, with mango, passionfruit and tangerine leading the way, but now some interesting bitterness comes in by way of red grapefruit and papaya. The grain base is there, but again is content to sit backstage, ensuring that nothing goes wrong while the deliciously fruity hops dance out on stage in full spotlight. Very easily consumed and drinkable.

Mouthfeel - Medium-to-light bodied and moderate carbonation, with a refreshingly juicy aspect to the feel.

Overall, just an excellent IPA. And as I'm aware it's made with Simcoe and Amarillo, I can't help but think to myself that perhaps Amarillo is my favorite hop of all. It seems to be present in many of my favorite beers. This one is no different. Too bad I can't get Alpine in my neck of the woods, or online, for that matter. Not that I'm saying anything that hasn't been said about this beer, but if you see it, and you like IPAs, get it. End of story.

Delicious!

I’m glad to say that this, my first taste of an Alpine beer, lived up to the hype.

It pours a golden-tan with exceptional clarity. I get a great citrus aroma and some light piney notes. There’s a lively citrus flavor and a light bittering on it. I enjoyed this repeatedly when I found it on tap. An all around well done IPA that hits all the right notes.
