22 oz. into a pint glass/ Consumed fresh
P: Dull copper with a 1 inch head of pearly white soapy foam on top. Showed decent retention before it formed a thin film of bubbles on the surface, leaving some spotty lace behind in its wake.
A: Big hop aromas of citrus, pine, and lots of floral come catapulting out of the glass, while very soft caramel malts are there underneath. Nothing mind-blowing here, but the aroma features a potent blast of everything I like in my west-coast IPA's.
T: Starts more balanced than expected with a toasted biscuity malt that emanates lots of caramel sweetness while the hops showcase their exotic citrus fruit characteristics on top that make me think of grapefruit, pineapple, and melons. Then, the malt seems to almost drop out completely as the flavor turns increasingly bitter and progressively piney on the back end. Finishes with a long, dry aftertaste that hangs on for a while. Can't quite pull the trigger on the next highest flavor score, though.
M: Medium-bodied, crisp yet resinous, while being dry and smooth with a little creaminess from the good amount of Co2.
Notes: This is a really good IPA that drinks so easily I wish it were available in 6 pack form. Doesn't feature as much complexity in the citrus department as I usually look for in top-notch IPA's, as the bitter pine seems to take over on the back end. But all in all, this is another fine choice in the diverse selection of west-coast IPA's within easy disposal. Recommended
