American IPA |  7.00% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
A West Coast IPA that features Amarillo and Simcoe hops "in harmony," giving a light, floral aroma. Duet is nicely bitter with the perfect amount of malt concealed behind the hoppy goodness. Immensely drinkable, amazingly light on its feet.

22 oz. bottle purchased from CraftCity.com, unknown brewing/packaging date, poured into my The Lost Abbey teku glass and drank over an hour

A: 3/3 - golden-orange coloration; low clarity (cannot read or see through); initially frothy white head settled into a 1/2 finger head with a thin film and islands; moderate alcohol legs

S: 8/12 - mild-to-moderate pine and citrus aroma; mild-to-moderate bready/biscuity aroma and some alcohol; no diacetyl, slight DMS

T: 15/20 - on the front of the tongue, there is a moderate bitterness that is followed by a balance of hop - peach, tangerine and pine - and malt character; malts continue to play on the back of the tongue; finishes dry with some warming alcohol notes

M: 4/5 - moderate body (with hop oils and alcohol); moderate carbonation; good drinkability

O: 8/10 - very good West Coast IPA that hits all the high points - citrus, pine, background malts and dry - with an interesting peach character that I wasn't expecting from the advertised hop profile (Simcoe & Amarillo); I drank another Simcoe & Amarillo WC IPA, Kern River "Just Outstanding" IPA, and would give that the slight nod because I found the hop aroma and flavors more intense, but they're definitely similar beers; Duet is not a 96 for me but I'd readily recommend
