A West Coast IPA that features Amarillo and Simcoe hops "in harmony," giving a light, floral aroma. Duet is nicely bitter with the perfect amount of malt concealed behind the hoppy goodness. Immensely drinkable, amazingly light on its feet.

A: Orange, amber color with a nice creamy fluffy white head, lots of lacing, not much head retention, cloudy, some carbonation.

A: Sweet malts come through really strong, fresh pine needles, grapefruit, citrus rind, not getting any alcohol on the nose.

T: Piney, citrus rinds, bitterness, sweet malts at the end on a dry finish, tastes great.

M: Medium mouthfeel, dry finish.

O: I really liked this, citrus bitterness reminded me of fresh grapefruit rind, citrusy bitterness is prevalent, I picked up a strong malt presence, but really leans towards the bitter side than maltier side. This beer is definitely worthy of another purchase.

On tap at BC's Pizza & Beer

A: Pours deep golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and laces very well.

S: Bright citrus and tropical notes, a little pine, a bit of dankness, and some caramel malt sweetness.

T: Big citrus and tropical fruit, passion fruit, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, some pine, a little dankness, and just the right amount of caramel malt sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, very drinkable.

O: Very happy to get my hands on this one. 2 of my favorite hops working together beautifully.

So I walk into my local pub and the barkeep who knows my preferences asks if I want a duet. I haven't had a chance to look at the board listing for 40 taps, but I trust Shane and say ok. Taken by surprise. Resinous with hops is a good description. Exceptional feel with good balance. Wish they would keep it on regular.

Not an overehelming amount of hops on this one, more of a medicinal flavor with a bit of astringent kick. Most of the bitterness comes on the back end but it is pretty well balanced. Very slick oily mouthfeel, quite resinous.

Pours slightly hazy but nice golden color. Beautiful floral aroma with nice head and creamy lace. Smooth first witch is full of hop flavor but no rough bitterness. A clean crisp back finish. Love this beer and it's been around. Just discovered it. Highly recommend.

9/5/15 DE

Pour dark orange with pretty decent head. Nothing too impressive but if you like darker side ipas then you'll love it.

The smell is a little sweet with nice passion fruitiness.

The taste is great. And the feel is great. Is say it's a heavier hopped beer that doesn't really fit the piney west coast mold. For me that's great. I like citrus and smooth. Which this kicks ass for the feel and the fruity hop taste.

Overall, love this beer. I've had a few alpines and all so far have been top of the game. This one might be one of their best.

Howler fill at Keyport Liquor in Superior Wisconsin. Nice golden colour finger of head with some sporadic lacing. Loads of citrus, bubble gum, sweet cedar and earthy pine. Same as the nose, loads of bitter citrus rind, earthy cedar and a lingering bitterness. A tasty IPA, solid rendition and super stoked to have had the chance to try it.

Had this on draft at beer 30 in San Marco. Jax,FL
Look: Golden body with some floaties. Head was fluffy white and stuck around for a while leaving a thin lacing down the glass.
Smell: Very nice! Funky, earthy, dank and resinous cut grass mixed with mango and apricot. It leans more on the dank side than the tropical which is fine by me.
Taste: Sweet, citrusy, and slightly bready upfront with an instant hop burst that lasts the whole way down. Very tasty beer.
Feel: Smooth with a medium amount of carbonation. It feels just right.
Overall: A very well crafted brew and I am glad Jacksonville is starting to get Alpine stuff. If the beer snobbery is true and "this isn't anywhere near what it is like from the bottle" then I'll have to search out a trade partner because this was almost world class.

This pours with a hazy golden golden body that is topped with a creamy white head that keeps gripping down the glass. Some of the unfiltered IPAs are a bit off-putting, but I seem to like this one. The nose is a wave of fresh hops presented by cut grass and grapefruit. Strong peppery hop flavors rush through the flavor profile with just the right mix of citrus and pine balanced with a sticky sweetness as the beer warms. The feel is lively and right on the style. I'm glad to see Alpine beers in Maryland and can't wait to try more of their offerings.

Pours a cloudy golden to dark orange color, with a thin white head. There is a lot of carbonation and quite a bit of lacing. The odor is tropical fruits, orange, apricot, lemon, pineapple, grapefruit, floral, slight honey, slightly resin, slightly grassy. The taste is citrus, grapefruit, malty, herbal, pineapple, bread like, slightly herbal, bitter through out.

Appearance: orange in color with a 1" head that slowly fades.

Smell: citrus and some pine are mellow on the nose.

Taste: caramel, orange, grapefruit, some pine, mango, and a nice bitterness rounds it out.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp from start to finish with a bit of dryness arriving later.

Overall: a very drinkable and enjoyable IPA. Well balanced.

Poured from a growler into the SN/DFH IPA glass
A: Transparent orange with a one-finger head that slowly settles
S: Comples and pure with some stone fruit, tropical fruit, caramel and hints of citrus and pine
T: Tropical fruit, stone fruit, citrus, and a bit of earth
M: Medium-bodied, dry
O: Definitely a solid IPA. For being a CA beer this isn't the usual west-coast style but is complex, tasty and recommended

On tap into a pint glass at Wild Tomato in Sister Bay, WI.

Appearance: Pours a beautiful golden hue with a slight orange tinge, finger head which dissipates rather quickly leaving little behind but the beautiful golden nectar beneath.

Aroma: The weakest part of this brew, I just want more. It's not in any way offensive, there is a nice hop presence and a tad bit of citrus but I want to be more taken, more seduced by the citrus and the pine elements of this west-coast.

Taste: This is where Duet really shines. Fantastic balance, the pine sings in perfect harmony with the citrus, neither is overwhelming but both are definitely there, easing their way across your palate. Flavorful, but not abrasive, with a softer finish than most west-coast IPA's, begging you to come back for another sip. A sessionable IPA, as drinkable as it is delicious.

Mouthfeel: Fantastic mouthfeel on this one. Silky smooth and light on the tongue due to a medium, drying carbonation.

Overall: Exemplary west-coast IPA. I sometimes struggle with this style as I feel they often come off far too abrasive and piney, Duet gets it right, balancing the pine perfectly with a fresh hit of citrus and subtle malt backbone.

Look: Appears crystal golden and transparent.
Aroma: Piny hop aroma with some sweet malt. Would like more citrus (I get a little orange) or even more pine.
Taste: Fruit rine and pine. A little sweet malt. A good, balanced example of the west coast style.
Feel: Medium to medium-low body.
Overall, a great example of the west coast style and definitely balanaced as others have pointed out. Better than Pliny.

Had yesterday at a beer fest (was on cask). Never had this on cask before and thought it was absolutely fantastic.

Pours hazy and a near brown.

Effectively no head (cask).

Amazing balance of hop ad malt here. Malt wasn't overpowering even though there was essentially no carbonation to add some bittering. Just a really great IPA.

Poured into a pint jar at LD's Beer Run, Jackson, MS

A: A clear amber with an off-white half finger head that dissipated rather quickly. Decent lacing.

S: Pine, grapefruit, mangoes, citrus heaven.

T: So freakin' smooth. Grapefruit and West Coast hops slide in for a nearly bitterless taste. Grapefruit, mango and oranges sooth the tongue with citrus love.

M: Light to medium with medium carbonation. A dry finish.

O: One of the better IPA's around. Sip and be awed.

Solid solid ipa. More on the citrusy side of the IPA spectrum. Nose was a little weak. Very enjoyable, drinkable.

has the feel of a DIPA but not the punch. hops are a little soft, almost nuanced. just drank a hoppy birthday which as a punch to the face so that could be the reason. will have to see how green flash handles after a few batches as this first out of the gate doesn't live up to the hype.

An excellent west coast IPA that "hides" its ABV content very well - drinks lighter than it is, like a graceful, stealthy Stone beer. Had it on tap at Fire & Hops in Santa Fe, NM. Up there in the top 10% of IPAs available on the market, just didn't have any extra 'character' that made it notable for me. Still a really good beer.

on tap at the Red Cow into a pint glass

a: fairly clear apricot gold, 1 finger head, minimal lacing
s: a little muted (which surprised me) but a little orange/pineapple citrus and some herbal flowery notes
t: suprisingly balanced: starts with some smooth malty biscuit and honey, then the hops enter in (with a good balance between the citrus and the flowery herbal flavors), and linger with some decent bitterness to go with the citrusy hops. A little juicy, but everything is kind of in check.
m: very well done -- carbonation is spot on, dries out a little at the end, while also coating your mouth with hop oils.

this didn't have the pop of Nelson or Hoppy Birthday (and I'd love to have the chance to try these at the brewery without the Green Flash influence) but...it is still quite good.

WOW! Had this on tap at Avenue Pub in NOLA. Was excited to try some Alpine offerings, but this one took the cake. Probably the best aroma that I have ever noticed on a beer before. I could sniff on that all day. Taste was very smooth and balanced. Piney, slight malt. Loved it!
