A West Coast IPA that features Amarillo and Simcoe hops "in harmony," giving a light, floral aroma. Duet is nicely bitter with the perfect amount of malt concealed behind the hoppy goodness. Immensely drinkable, amazingly light on its feet.

A quintacential West Coast IPA. Perfect harmony between pine resin, citrus pith, green dankness, and robust honey malt.

650ml bottle from the Alpine Pub. Served in a teku glass 3/13/2015. I had originally rated this a 4.00 years ago, but I figured I needed to revisit this beer with a proper review.

A- Clear caramel-copper body, two finger white head with nice foamy lacing and above average retention. Looks mildly soapy.

S- Surprisingly strong floral notes, hints of citrus and pine, mild pale malt sweetness evoking caramel. Very solid nose.

F- Sweet floral notes, more citrus than in the nose, and a good bit of grainy pale malt and caramel backing everything up. Mild floral notes on the finish which is more pine-forward than the nose would have you expect. Moderately bitter finish.

M- Medium bodied, crisp and appropriately dry for the style, easy to drink. Moderately bitter pine and floral finish.

O- Very good IPA in the west coast vein that isn't too overwhelming one way or another. Nice floral bite up front that is appropriately backed up by a sweeter malt and citrus backbone. It's not anywhere near Alpine's best beer (that's Nelson) but it's very solid.

Review from Notes.
On Draft at Dirty Truth

Nice appearance and good floral nose. Great flavor. I think I prefer Nelson slightly more, but would be happy to have another pint of Duet.

Had this last night on tap as a guest beer at the Amherst Brewing Company. I walked in and ordered it immediately. Awesome beer! Incredibly nuanced, juicy, and flavorful.

On tap at Sunset Cantina, right across the street from BU.

Nice, hazy IPA pour--large head, ample particulate matter. Call me a weirdo, but I like drinking beers that have little bits floating in them.

Smells sharp and spritely, with giant citrus hops and a chewy, yeasty back end.

Tastes super flavorful without any of the attendant heaviness found in most larger IPAs. Orange and grapefruit hops start things off, sliding into a more balanced middle and ending with a quite nice bready yeast.
