Big thanks to Adam for hooking me up with a growler from Alpine. Poured into a tulip glass.
A-Pours a very clear light amber color. When it is held up to the light, it becomes quite golden in color. It has a one finger off white head that stays at a good level. A ring of lace is left in between each sip.
S-This is the closest beer I have found to PtY in terms of aroma. It has an awesome hoppy nose that screams West Coast. It is a pefect blend of pine, mango, melon, and candied citrus.
T-Like the nose, this one has lots of hop flavor. It begins with lots of resiny pine flavor. The fruit in the nose at first is pushed out. It has a pale malt backbone that adds just a touch of sweetness on the finish. It has a dry finish that is common for a superior WC DIPA. I found after a few sips the hop oils and resinous pine gave way to more of the citrus and fruit character of the hops.
M-Medium bodied and lightly carbonated.
D-The booze is extremely well hidden. This drinks like a 6-7% IPA.
Another outstanding beer from Alpine. Well worth seeking out if you can find an Alpine contact.
