On tap at the joint itself - Alpine Beer Company.
Has a dark, yet thin-ish black appearance. We'll move on...
Aroma is good like Bar Rafaeli sipping her morning coffee - I can get used to this.
Taste meets you well like Bar in her nighty after she ate a chocolate soufflé... Yes, I think I will kiss you goodnight.
Not with the best of the best, but good.

Growler via trade with smokepot23 - thanks!
Pours one shade from black with a surprisingly robust 1.5-finger tan head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.
Smells of smooth roasted malts with equal amounts of semi-sweet chocolate and pine hops.
Tastes very similar to how it smells. Lightly roasted malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by moderate amounts of semi-sweet chocolate flavors. Midway through the sip hints of earthy and pine hops come into play. The hops fade out quickly, allowing the malts to carry through to a moderately bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is very good. It's got a very nice thickness with grainy carbonation.
Drinkability is also very good. I finished my glass without any problems and could easily have a few more.
Overall I was expecting a hopped-up porter but instead I was pleased to find a traditional take on the style, and one that was very well done. Worth a shot.

On-tap at Blue Palms Brewhouse. Served in a wide mouth tulip.
Seal brown body, auburn highlights. A thin beige head recedes to a small collar and thin isle of larger bubbles. Decent lacing. A swirl brings back the cream.
Mellow but thoroughly roasted malt. Faint fruit as well.
Layered malt flavors, a mix of roast and bready specialties. Slightly leathery finish. Very clean over all.
Medium-bodied, well carbonated, somewhat creamy.
Not the most distinctive porter, but very pure and basically faultless...

Growler thanks to largadeer.
Very dark brown in color with a one-finger tan head and some lacing.
Roasty and coffeeish aroma with some piney hop notes.
The flavor is pretty nice, with roast and coffee, slight dark fruits, and piney hops but not in excess. Some nutty flavors.
Medium-bodied, fairly dry yet smooth on the mouthfeel. Solid stuff.

Consumed this growler 2 days after filling it up. Looks like a porter, smells like a porter, and tastes like a porter. That is why I gave it such high marks. They made it imperial but still kept it within the porter style, distant from the stout category. Nicely done. The flavor is a mixture of the chocolate and roasted malt varieties (shocker), but the roastiness is not overdone. Just enough to give it a hint of coffee. Super drinkable. Other than getting drunk, I would have no problem being a finish a whole growler of this.

Poured from a growler into a pint glass. This Token beer pours a deep brown with some mahogany highlights. An inch of dense mocha foam breaks down slowly, leaving spatters of lacing, eventually reducing to, yet maintaining, a thin surface cap.
Smell is of cocoa and light grated chocolate. Bit of a thin sweet caramel and cherry fruit presence is noted after the foam settles.
Taste is pleasant and matches the nose. A slightly thinner body than expected is found. At 8.5% I expected a richer body yet this masks the ABV quite well and maintains a lightness on the palate. Finish lingers with a flash of the malt depth I was anticipating, wrapping it up with a slight char character. Feel improves with warming and offers a strong drinkability, particularly for the ABV. Solid though lacking any special attraction.

On tap at the brewpub in Alpine on 10/30/10. Served in a large tulip. Unfortunately the beer was far too cold when I received it so I had to wait for awhile for it to warm up.
A very small light tan head caps a completely opaque black body. Head dies almost immediately leaving a thin film atop the beer.
Aroma is loaded with chocolate with some nice backing roasted coffee notes. On track for the American Porter style.
Flavors are basically identical to the aroma but a little more clearly defined. Chocolate notes now call to mind a milk chocolate candy bar while the roasted malts are less coffee-like but still fairly acrid. Alcohol sweetness is nicely hidden considering the monster ABV but still a little more present than I prefer in the style. Gains some nutty notes as it completes the journey to room temperature.
Although it doesn't break my top ten for the style this is another very good beer from the Alpine Beer Co.

On cask at O'Brien's Pub in San Diego.
A: Black-brown pour, tan head, decent lace.
S: Nice roasty, coffee, yeasty aroma.
T: Roasty malt, slight spice note, alcohol, very nice hop flavor. Well-balanced.
M: Medium, nicely soft carbonation.
D: Really nice porter. Would have liked to have stayed for another, but alas, O'Brien's is quite the popular place and there was absolutely no where to sit.

On-tap at Blue Palms
A: The pour is a dark, dark brown with a finger's worth of tan colored head.
S: The nose is a touch simple, but still quite enjoyable. A lot of coffee and roasted malt, maybe a touch of smoke.
T: The flavor is very smokey, I can almost taste the smoke before the beer hits my tongue. There's also plenty of coffee and chocolate to round this one out.
M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation and a creamy feel on the tongue.
D: Normally I'm not a huge fan of beers that have this smokey quality to them, but this was very enjoyable. A very nice porter, indeed.
