Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a Pipeworks snifter.

A-pours black with a 2 finger dark tan head. Big ring of lacing with some small blotches also.

S- big bourbon aromas right out the gate, chocolate, some light vanilla, and coffee.

T- big chocolate mixes with bold bourbon. Some nice light vanilla and bitter coffee.

M- medium body and carbonation. Some acidity and alcohol burn knocks the feel down a bit for me.

O- good BA stout but not very complex and has some abv burn after nearly a year after being bottled now. I did not pick up the buttery off flavors or aromas that some have. Bottle variation maybe?

22oz bottle poured into HF stemmed glass. Thanks Tom (airfoil) for this one!

A- Pours a dark brown that appears an opaque dark black in the glass. About a finger of beige/mocha head that recedes fairly fast to a thin layer with some floating yeast sediment and leaving some light lacing.

S- Bourbon, light booze, light chocolate, fairly average aroma bourbon-barrel presence, nothing overly exciting but decent overall.

T- Light chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, light booze on finish with a vanilla chocolate finish that lingers for a little bit. Nice balance.

M- Medium bodied, light alcohol burn, smooth, fairly drinkable, slightly thin for a BA stout.

O- This was a decent overall barrel-aged stout. Definitely not the best I've had, but fairly enjoyable. I'd have this again, but I probably wouldn't recommend going out of your way to obtain it.

Thanks to Brandon for this bottle of excellence. Bottle shared at a tasting with a couple friends. Review from notes.

Poured very dark brown, nearly black, with mahogany and garnet hues in the light. Tan head that retained nicely, forming trails of lace on the mini Duvel tulip. Very nice aroma with a well balanced blend of bourbon, oak, and roasty imperial stout. Hints of vanilla, wood, and caramel is mixed with a more prominent burnt toast, ash, half and half, and cocoa. Flavors are akin to that of the aroma, however the bourbon undertones are more pronounced and actually contributes more to my liking of this beer. The finish is long with some sweetness from the bourbon and beer, but also a bit of earthy/herbal bitterness from the hop profile. I like that the hops are relatively subdued through the whole experience so as not to take away from the other flavors, yet is there in the background just enough to prevent the beer from becoming a cloying mess. Carbonation is moderate, yet the body is actually thinner than I prefer in a big beer with so much going on. A little top heavy if you will... I think it needs a bigger base to support it. Otherwise, a very nicely made barrel aged stout that I'm sure can age well. I am quite grateful for the chance to experience this beer.

Bottle from eyeenjoybeer. I've had this before courtesy of Chris (spycow) but didn't take complete notes. Served in a plastic cup on Freddy's boat.

A - Dark tan foam settles to a thin ring and wispy thin cap, leaving behind a few splotches of lace. Body is pitch black.

S - Reminds me of the buttercream chocolates from Pot of Gold. Caramel and vanilla sweetness, with a hint of oak and not much bourbon presence at all. There's also a musky note, as well as some lightly tart cherries, just like in BA Token.

T - The taste has more oak and whiskey flavor, as well as some charred malts, in addition to hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Not nearly as sweet and buttery as the aroma, but with a strange astringency to it.

M - Medium bodied with lower carbonation. Tannic and dry, with some warming alcohol presence.

D - Yeah, there's something odd with this beer, but it's not as bad as BA Token was. I'm confused as to what would produce this combination of off flavors, as the beer wasn't over-carbonated or particularly sour - just buttery and slightly funky. We managed to finish the bottle, but I don't think anyone really enjoyed it. A shame, because I enjoyed the base beer a fair bit.

Pours black in color with a small tan head. Roasted malt on the nose with some chocolate, cocoa, and coffee. Bourbon, vanilla, and some oak. Flavor is quite roasty with lots of oak and bourbon. A bit of vanilla, some toffee and molasses, and chocolate. Decent sweetness on the finish.
