Poured from a bomber into a pint glass.
Pours a golden amber, with a tidy, silky, off-white head about two fingers thick. Slight haze. Substantial lacing. Juicy and resilient head.
Smells amazing. Floral, citrus and pine hops and notes of bubble gum (?) sweetness. Smells just delicious.
Nice grainy malt character underpins this brew, with a variety of hop flavors coming out of it. Bitterness, a pungent earthy flavor, some funkiness like overcooked greens lurks in the background. Some herbal qualities. Fresh produce - seriously. Some sweet malt flavors come in, muted caramel, and a fleeting fruit like sweetness. Flavors clear and there is just citrus rind like hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
The carbonation seems to work through this brew in a very balanced way as the mouthfeel is quite soft and smooth.
An enjoyable and in some ways surprising beer. Drinkable and delicious.

22oz bottle, thanks Dustin. Poured into a Surly goblet today, 3/4/2014. Not the first time I've had this but the first time I can review this..
App- clear straw yellow body, disappointingly thin white head with weak retention. Good lacing.
Smell- smells reasonably dank, like fresh hop pellets. Earthy, floral, grapefruit, pineapple. Pretty solid.
Flavor- better than it smells. More citrus and pineapple come out on top of the floral notes. A nice crackery, caramel malt backbone.
Mouthfeel- a bit thinner than I'd like. Fair amount of carbonation, nice dry finish. Not too resinous or thick. Quite bitter but clean.
Overall- solid IPA. Nelson is definitely the best one of the Alpine trio. This may very well be the worst of the three which isn't saying much since this is more than solid.
