American Double / Imperial IPA |  8.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
This brew uses several varieties and multiple hop additions to the kettle as well as a large "hop back" to give the bitterness and aroma a start. Plenty of dry hops finish it off and give a big hop bouquet.
Draft & 22oz bottles.

Super stoked to try this, alpine never disappoints.

The body looks like your classic IPA, golden body and a razor thin white head. The smell is super tropical, not blooming though. The taste is pretty on par with the taste, but a lot more bitterness sits on the palate than expected. It tastes relatively clean with a little bit too much hoppiness in the aftertaste, kind of grapefruit rindy...
The beer is a little boozy but still relatively balanced. Better when it's warmer. Definitely tasty at the end.

big thanks to LaChupacabra for the bottle!

22oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a darkness snifter. no freshness info.

the first pour results in a very clear orange- golden color with a nice two fingers of white head, settles to a nice thin retentive layer with some big almost soapy like bubbles. lots of sticky lace covers the glass. the second pour was a a bit cloudy with some sediment, but this was to be expected.

nice big hop aromas, tropical fruits and pineapple taking the lead with some grapefruit citrus and pine as well. slight lemon, mango, apricot and a bit of that onion/ garlic i get in most alpine IPAs. more veggie the more it warms. just a trace of a sweet breadiness.

loving the taste, definatly lives up to its name. sweet citrus, orange, a bit of lemon, resinous pine, mango, pineapple... all sorts of tropical fruits. a little bit of apricot and again a little bit of that onion, garlic, veggie going on, but its more welcomed here than in exponential because its in very nice balance with the rest of the hop flavors. almost no malt coming through.

dry, resinous bitterness covers the palate. medium bodied, no alcohol noticable at all. very nice feeling carbonation for the style. very easy drinking.

really this is almost every hop flavor in one IPA, all in almost perfect balance with one another. vibrant, big, fresh hop flavors. of all the alpine IPA's ive tried, im really torn between this and Nelson as my favorite, did not care for exponential, but id for sure trade for more Alpine.

A - Pours a clear amber color with a finger of off white head. Alright retention and a bit of lacing.

S - Big citrus and tropical fruit: grapefruit, mango, pineapple, lemon, orange. Smells a bit sweet.

T - Nice mix of pine and grapefruit. Medium length finish with some floral notes on top of a very mild bitterness.

M - Prickly carbonation with a nice resinous coating. Medium bodied and astringent on the finish.

O - My first brew from ABC and I wasn't disappointed. Very solid DIPA.

22 oz bomber, no date on bottle, poured into a snifter.

A- Pours a golden amber color with a thin creamy, sticky head. Leaves good lacing.

S- Holy crap, this beer has one of the best hop aromas I've smelled in a long time. Massive pine sap aroma with loads of citrus and herbs. Very bright, fresh aroma.

T- More giant hops, solid bitterness with more pine, citrus, all the good IPA stuff, the hops also have a spicy, earthy, dank character that's very interesting. Slightly sweet, caramelly malt, has a bit of graininess to it. Alcohol becomes more present as the beer warms and contributes a mild tropical fruit flavor. Overall it's not a very boozy or sweet beer, it definitely leans heavily on the brighter pine and citrus flavors and that dank hop flavor.

M- Medium bodied, smooth, very creamy feel, finishes bone dry, a bit of warmth from the alcohol.

O- An awesome DIPA, I really love hop bombs and this one is huge, it's an excellent West Coast style DIPA but really sets itself apart with its complex hop flavors, super tasty.
