American Double / Imperial IPA |  8.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
This brew uses several varieties and multiple hop additions to the kettle as well as a large "hop back" to give the bitterness and aroma a start. Plenty of dry hops finish it off and give a big hop bouquet.
Draft & 22oz bottles.

Aroma: Dank hop resin, pine, orange, lemon, grapefruit, a little mango, a little bread malts, and a little sweet malts, smells absolutely superb! 5

Appearance: A nice really clear, yellow, orange, amber, color mix that leaves a very creamy kooky head that lasts for a long time, leaves some nice lacing as well. 4.25

Taste: Wow! From the aroma you're expecting a hop bomb, you get a hop bomb but it is slightly tame and not incredibly over done and it's brilliant. Loads of pine, lemon, orange, grapefruit, hints of mango, mixed with a slight sweet and bread malt. Superbly balanced and complex, this really is a great DIPA! 4.75

Palate: Incredibly light, crisp, refreshing, the flavor profile lingers awhile and it slowly overtakes the perfect amount of bitterness, leaves your mouth a little dry which leaves you craving for more! 5

O: This is an incredible DIPA and IMO contends with the best of the best! 4.75

Poured into a nonic pint glass from the 22 ounce bottle. A vigorous pour produces a monstrous, fluffy, foamy cream-colored head. The body is a light amber with blonde hues and more opaque than clear. The head persists well and leaves plenty of lace. 4.25

Tropical fruit and hop resin are dominant aromas when I take a whiff. Pine is there but mellow, as is the floral aspect. 4.25

Although not as potent as on the nose, I'm still getting tasty tropical fruit flavors, a burst of pine, and a resinous finish. The malt offers some caramel about mid-palate that manages to tone down the hops, but it's still subtle enough to not detract from the hopfest. 4.2

There's some hop bite to this, and it feels aggressively hopped, but it's not a palate wrecker and there's a good, creamy malt quality to it. It's smooth and relatively drinkable. The bitterness is easily dealt with and the finish is only slightly dry. 4.4

Well, Alpine seems to have mastered the smooth, mellow drinking but still big IPAs. This is another great example. Love it. 4.35

Twenty-two ounce bottle.

A: Pours a clear orange with a half-inch thick slightly off-white head which fades to the rim and leaves puzzle lace.

N: Juicy and pungent grapefruit, orange and tangerine zest and pith, brightly floral and fruity.

T: Great balance between sweetish malts and citrus and pine explosions, dank and herbal overtones.

M: Moderate body and medium carbonation. Dry, bitter, resinous and sticky finish.

O: Forgot how good this is. World class. Don't pass this by.
