American Double / Imperial IPA |  8.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
This brew uses several varieties and multiple hop additions to the kettle as well as a large "hop back" to give the bitterness and aroma a start. Plenty of dry hops finish it off and give a big hop bouquet.
Draft & 22oz bottles.

look: 3.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4.25

Went to ABC this morning while running errands. I picked up a pure hoppiness and a mandarin nectar. Pure Hoppiness was the much better beer in my opinion.
Poured a dark golden/light amber. Not a ton of lacing but a decent amount, 1 inch head.
Smell was a highly citrus mix, like a citrus bowl. Some piney notes and not much malt smell to it. Just a little at the end, overall lemon, orange, grapefruit dominate the smell.
Taste is freaking delicious, I was a huge hop head for awhile and kinda got burned out after tasting so many IPA's. This beer rekindled my love for hops! It tastes like it smells expect a little more pungent. Also I can taste a hint of caramel malts. Whatever mix they used for this was perfect. Just an outstanding west coast IPA.
Overall this beer rocks a hop heads dream. And since the brewery is about 5 miles from my house I will be enjoying more of these.

note- This was my very first beer review.

22 oz bottle poured into Speigelau tulip, thanks Reggae4203

Pours a golden yellow clear body with a white head of small and medium bubbles.

Great citrus aroma, strong grapefruit, orange, pineapple, papaya, lemon rind. Some pine notes typical of WCSIPA. Nice aroma.

Taste is very bitter, resinous, and malty, getting a lot of pine and a ton of bitter hops, some sticky sweetness, some bready character, leaves a film of resin on the tongue with a definitely dry and bitter aftertaste. Alcohol burn is present.

Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated, smooth, medium bodied, sticky, dry finish

Overall, I would drink it again but wouldn't seek it out, overhyped IMO. Just didn't come together as well as it could have. Very malty and very bitter, but the tasting hops didn't shine through as nicely. Perhaps fresher, this beer would drink differently. Hope to try it again fresh one day and reassess.
