A 330ml bottle with a BB of June 2014, so it's a bit out of date. Here's hoping this style has a good endurance factor. Acquired a while back from Trembling Madness in York. Bring on the coffee!

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A very dark brown hue that appears ultra-black in the glass. Yields a huge head of creamy mocha foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer.

S: Aroma of overwhelming coffee and chocolate, along with notes of roasted malt, burnt grain, molasses, stewed leaves and mild earthy yeast. Fanatically rich and sweet.

T: Tastes of intense coffee and roasted malt, with a powerful bitter finish. Notes of coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, burnt grain, molasses, dark sugar, mild fruitiness, earthy yeast and faint stewed leaves. Slightly sweet, followed by a strident, malt-driven bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and a decent body. Could certainly be a tad thicker and more unctuous. Pretty astringent, accompanied by a lingering aftertaste of rich roasted malt, bitter coffee, cocoa and yeast.

O: Extreme breakfast stoutage! Excellent beer with a big character. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are as intense as expected. Tons of coffee, roasted malt, cocoa, molasses and yeast notes all blended together in an orgiastic delirium. The only minor let-down is the body, which is a shade too thin and fizzy for the style. Superb and well worth sampling if you have the chance. (1,508 characters)

Half pint on tap. Classic flavours and aromas typical of the style in a balanced way. Nice blend of sweet and bitter in the taste, the oats add a creamy layer towards the end of the sip. Medium to low body and fizzy carbonation.

Nothing to dislike about my first try on Siren, but a bit better balance in the mouthfeel-carbonation would be welcome. A tasty beer which is also very drinkable anyway, with the ABV working great at 6. (433 characters)

On draft, pours an opaque black with a light brown head, good retention.

The nose is roast, coffee, oat, a little sweet molasses, with some distinct peat smoke on the back end, almost ashy. The flavor is full-bodied, very smooth. Lots of caramel, espresso, molasses, toast, and faint wood and smoke. This is well balanced and very enjoyable. I like it. (359 characters)

Pours smooth. Very black, with no transparency, and a tan/coffee coloured head, two fingers on the initial pour dissipating over a couple of minutes to a gentle film, like coffee crema.
Lovely rich smell, initially a big hit of coffee, very sweet and malty, with a slight, pleasant, petrol hint. Chocolate liqueur comes though slightly, and it is the chocolate smell that lingers.
Initial impressions on taste were very positive. Delightful first sip. Big chocolate taste, a slightly drawn out finish with a bitterness that softly makes its presence known after the first taste hit dies away. Coffee tones sit behind the chocolate. A sweet taste trying to push through, and just hanging in the background. No unpleasant bitterness or astringency, very smooth and drinkable. Not massive amounts of complexity or changing or developing taste, but a very pleasant experience.
Velvety and thick mouthfeel. Feels warming in the mouth and rolls easily around the tongue. No bite, not too sticky. Smooth and delectable.

Overall very positive impression. Oats appear to have been used well in the brew, and the descriptor on the bottle of a 'silky unctuousness' is spot on.
Bottle design is nice - black and white line drawing of a lady surrounded by grains and hops.
Would definitely drink again. (1,297 characters)

Unctuous black with a finger of purple-brown froth that fades fast but speckles.
Light coffee, ash, plum nose.
Black Twizzlers, camp coffee, and grape soda up front, a charred roast hit, and a branchy marshmallow end.
Cream soda finish and rock candy linger with slight black malt acid as it warms.
Medium-full, smooth, oily.

"Breakfast stout" is code for coffee and oatmeal, and though it mentions those in the description, it doesn't list them in the ingredients, leaving me unsure what this actually is. I am sure, however, that this is so thick, flat, and sweet that it comes across as underattenuated. There's also little in the way of hops, roast or even just bitter chocolate-toned black malt to cut the 11 kinds of sugar here.

Another drainpour, and I'm done with Siren. (784 characters)

A: Black body with a chunky beige head.
S: Fudge, chocolate and coffee and peppy yeast.
T: Everything that's in the nose with some smokey bitterness, although not all that bitter for an American influenced stout. Medium sweet and just a smidgen Belgianesque with some peppy esters.
M: Has a peppy but delicate effervescence.
O: I love it when beer tastes exactly as it smells. (377 characters)
