Leo's was on my radar after a local tipped me off that they had been running a growler fill station here since late last year. Unfortunately they had to stop recently and are currently applying for an on-premise license to bring it back, but i'm not too hopeful considering the current outdated laws in Illinois.

Leo's is located in a wedge shaped triangular building on a turnabout intersection. Across the street is Kewpie's, a nondescript old-school hotdog joint. "Leo's" is spelled out in cursive neon script above the door, a classic piece of retro American signage. A poster on the wall claims 550+ beers here, and I don't doubt that. Inside it's an older store, but clean and well kept. The beer section stretches the width of the store along the back wall, and starts with warm shelves just past the checkout counter. Full lines from several breweries, FFF Gumballhead, newcomers like Left Coast and Saugatuck, and Midwest staples like Dark Horse, Founders, and Bells. In the corner there's an impressive walk-in cooler full of bombers and import singles. Spent a good ten minutes in there just taking in the high volume of beer in such a small space. Lots of seasonals and obscurities here, Tyranena 4 packs in the back coolers, assorted Veldensteiner and Tucher flip-tops, cheap Schöfferhofer Weizen sixers. Belgian classics Rochefort, Orval, St. Bernardus, and even a Austrian Trappist-style "Gregorius". Cases of Lagunitas sucks were piled high in the center of the store. A wide assortment of FFF bombers, a full line of Firestone Walker, obscure west coast cans from Uncommon Brewers and Crazy Mountain from CO.

Service was friendly, the girl at the counter complimented our beer selections, and a guy on the floor let us know that bottles in the singles section were priced individually. Overall a quality stop, best selection i've seen in this area of the western 'burbs.

2017 edit: Still an extensive selection, but a lot of old stuff so check dates.

I stopped in while passing through the area. I found it with BA's new "Nearby" mobile feature. Great stuff!

It's a pretty ordinary liquor store in many ways with a mix of beer, wine and spirits. The beer selection is pretty extensive and they do have some good finds. The two beer coolers are especially interesting. I picked up two four pack of Surly Furious which I didn't think was available in Chicago.

I wouldn't go out of my way to get back to Leo's but if in the area, I'd stop in again.

I've been going here for the past year & I can say that the service is amazing! The employees & owners are very friendly & inviting. But the selection is okay at best. They also seem to be a bit overpriced. $8.50 for the, Perfect crime? That's a bit high since I have found it for under $5 a bottle at other shops. They also seem to buy from other shops just to sell at a huge marked up price.

Result: you won't find anything amazing here. If you do, you'll pay out the ass. But if you're looking for a great experience with a great staff for average beer? This is the place to go!

Leo's is my main beer store for a few reasons. It's a five minute walk, wonderful variety, and for the most part, very friendly staff. A warning for the new customer is that they tend to leave outdated beers for sale at full price. One can tell just by the accumulation of dust on the bottle. The second beef with this place is most beer prices are out of sight. Leo's has Two Brother's Hop Centric for $18.99 a six pack while MainStreet Liquors sells it for $16. One has to consider gas mileage for beer price. So over all, if you live in Brookfield area and don't mind paying a little more for your craft beer, Leo's is your place. Prost!

Stopped here as part of my Chicago haul. Located in the small downtown of Brookfield at one of the "corners" of the circle drive. Easy to spot and find parking.
The store seems a bit old inside but it was clean and well organized. The entire back wall has coolers of beer and also a small walk in beer cooler with mostly bombers to choose from. There are a few aisles of beer sitting on shelves. Great selection, hundreds of different beers to choose from. Endcaps of cases of beers too. I saw FFF, FW, New Glarus (didn't think they distributed to IL?), Founders, Bells, Arcadia, DH, and a ton of other brands. I was surprised to find some near whales just sitting on the shelf. I picked up a FW Sucaba and Anniversary XVI.
I was asked if I needed help one time and the guy at the counter was pleasant but rang me up with little chat. He did give me a 10% off case price though which was unexpected.
Prices were a bit higher than I saw at other Chicago area stores. I found FiftyFifty Eclipse Stouts Batch #1,#2,#3 on the shelf at $34/a bomber. Yeah no thanks.
All in all, Leo's is a great store with a massive selection. I *might* have gone a little crazy with the amount of beer I bought and it reflected in the price. You've been warned.
