22 ounce bottle with wax on the cap. No bottle listed info re: bottling date or ABV. I didn't see this beer on the shelf before, so I assume it's from this year's release?
Pour is dense, dark amber and medium hazy. Probably should have used a tulip glass instead of a pint--which is why it's nice when brewers list the ABV on the label.
The aroma is lightly tart with some pumpkin spice apparent. I worry a bit that it might be infected.
But the flavor reveals that it's not infected, just alcoholic. And actually pretty tasty, even if it's nothing out of the ordinary for a contemporary imperial pumpkin ale. Cinnamon and pepper up front, sharp but pleasant booze in the middle, and a dry and lightly tart back end. Pretty good. Not great, but pretty good.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a fairly nice looking semi-hazy burnt orange to copper color with a cap of a little white foamy head that slid off at a fair pace. Not much lace.
The aroma had a nice blend of sweet pumpkin flesh to ginger and allspice sort of spices. Light earthiness with a grassy hoppiness and then a little bit of pie crust and caramel malts.
The flavor was a nice blend of the pumpkin sweetness glossing over the spices fairly nice. Light pie crust (maybe biscuits) play with a little bit of caramel malts. Aftertaste was a nice blend of the pumpkin sweetness with the pie crust maltiness and some earthiness.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied as it seemed to sit just a touch under and having a very nice sessionability about it. Carbonation felt low key and nice. ABV felt on par. Finish seemed like pumpkin flavored biscuit smoothness - it's different than a bunch of other pumpkin ales as I don't think I have ever had "pumpkin flavored biscuits."
Overall, I'd have this again - why? Well, I have never had "pumpkin flavor-ed biscuits" have you? Drink this and find out for yourself.

Am I really the only individual who thought this beer tasted awful? I don't even like to be/sound negative but this beer gave me no choice. Perhaps I bought a skunked 4-pk. It literally tasted almost like soap it was just gross. Maybe that's why there's still so much of it left at the liquor stores I go to? Idk, but what I do know, is that I won't b shelling out $ for another.

'Tis the season. Another big offering, but this one fails to crack my top 5 pumpkin beers. One of the spices just jumps out a little more than I'd like, leading to unpleasant bitterness halfway through each gulp. Finishes ok, though still a little challenging to get through 12oz.

I am slowly reducing the backlog here at Chez Woody, unearthing beers that had been purchased and set aside awaiting an approved pic and forgotten in the interim. I spoke with the Full Tilt people in BAL last fall and they are an enthusiastic group, to be sure. I picked this bottle up at The Friendly Greek Bottle Shop here in Lancaster, PA.
From the bottle: "Full Tilt Brewing's Patterson Pumpkin is a deceptively smooth Imperial Pumpkin Ale. This seasonal 'feast' begins with a grain menu comprised of 2-Row Pale, Dark Munich, Red Wheat, and Carapils joined with Pumpkin in the mash. Sterling, Willamette, and Crystal hops are added to the boil to balance the malt sweetness. Finally, for the delectable pumpkin pie taste and aroma, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, and brown sugar are added; creating a rich, full-bodied, Fall drinking experience you'll want to revisit again and again."; "Full Taste. Full Pride. Full Tilt."
I Pop!ped the cap and gave it a fairly heavy-handed pour, resulting in two-plus fingers of foamy, tawny head with moderate retention. Color was a hazy Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13). Nose had an almost perfume-y sweetness, unlike any Pumpkin beer that I can remember. The spices were there, but the cloying sweetness was front and center. Mouthfeel was full, thick, like a dollop on my tongue. The taste was much better than the nose! It had a really rich sweetness to it, belying what they had said about the hops addition, but the melange of spices worked well to somewhat dry it down. The alcohol was also quite noticeable, which may be off-putting to some drinkers of this style. Finish was somewhere in the grey area between semi-sweet and semi-dry. The alcohol and the spices helped to keep the sweetness in check, but the point at which one ends and the other picks up was blurred in this case.

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass
Appearance: Pours a very pretty golden copper/orange color with a quarter of a finger of white head that quickly dissolved away into practically nothing, but an extremely thin halo of foam that gripped the sides of the glass.
Aroma: Big aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar, ginger and all-spice. Pumpkin and malt aromas round everything out. Not much in the way of hops, however.
Taste: Great! Wow, strong malty backbone, followed by all that spice of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, all-spice, brown sugar, finished by some beautifully balanced hops. Terrific flavor!
Mouthfeel: Chewy! Almost no carbonation. With an ABV of 9.0%, there is a considerable amount of alcohol on the palate.
Overall: I had never heard of this brewery, even though it is a local Baltimore one, and as such, I wasn’t expecting much. That being said, because of this terrific beer, I’m going to be on the search for this brewery’s other beers, and I’m going to be expecting a lot from them.
