Poured from a can into a pint glass. Very effervescent producing a foamy white head on a cloudy yellow body. Good lacing. The smell is pleasantly lemony. The taste is a bit weak. Breads with some lemon and spice but a bit dull. A good beer but not one I would seek out.

A blast from The CANQuest's past as this one from @JenRay surfaced as I CANtinue to redd up around Chez Woody!

From the CAN: "A Texas Saison Made In Texas By Texans.”

I Crack!ed it open and even though it was a Saison, its age & volume made me wary of being too aggressive in my Glug. I began gently enough, but I was still getting massive amounts of foaming, slowly settling into three-plus fingers of dense, rocky, bone-white head with tremendous retention. Color was a cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5), like a glass of liquefied sunshine. Nose was yeasty, but not as musty as many Saisons that I have had. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was very bready, like unbaked, rising dough with a peppery spiciness. Mmm. I generally do not like Saisons as they tend to be too funky for my liking, but this was very tasty. Finish was dry, as a Saison should be expected to be, but it was not so dry as to be puckering. I really liked the lingering taste of fresh bread and pepper. This would be nice on a day at the beach in the cooler.

I love every beer I've ever tried from Martin House. I personally think this is the best craft brewery in TX right now, but that's subjective I know. Still, I'm always excited to find new stuff from them at the store. This saison was no exception. Bought a four-pack of tall boys a the Whole Foods at the Quarry.

Poured into a glass mug, it is a nice, slightly opaque golden straw color. 1.5 fingers of light frothy head which soon dissipates. No lace to speak of. I clearly had this too cold, as it needed a good while to warm up closer to room temp and show its true colors, but I wasn't disappointed when it did. The nose is crisp and clean, but very faint. Slight notes of banana and clove. Maybe some vanilla. Pineapple? The taste, as I said, improved as the beer warmed. Banana. Some citrus. Light clove and pepper. Well-spiced all around. Lots of carbonation here that I think detracts just a bit from the overall mouthfeel and experience.

On the whole, this is probably my least favorite Martin House beer to date. Their other stuff excels so much that I feel a bit let down by this effort. It's got a nice flavor to it, and it's close to be a very fine beer, but I just think it's missing something. Not sure what, exactly. I won't hold it against them too much, though. Great brewery with some fine beers. This one just isn't my favorite.

16oz. can into a frozen mug. I know that doesn't sound right, but I'm outside and it's 92. Hazy, golden with massive head that lasts a lifetime.
Smells like a chemical spilled in a hay pile with cows and horses. That's a good smell to me! Early morning on a ranch!
Taste is like the smell. Has that slight decayed, barnyard taste. I love this beer and keep it all the time.
Great carbonation, semi dry on the end. Clean and refreshing.
Great beer! Would recommend this to anyone who likes Saisons. One of my favorites!

Appearance: Hazy pale golden body is crowned by a massive, coarse white head, which dissipates only slowly. Huge amounts of fine-beaded carbonation drift lazily to the surface. Thick, broken lacing clings to the glass walls.

Aroma: Grassy and phenolic notes ride atop a strong base of wheat malt. Coriander, lime rind, some barnyard notes, and a bit of medicinal hops.

Taste: The taste opens with a substantial phenolic flavor, along with wheat malt. Coriander, ripe bananas, and cloves follow. The yeast provides a complex, earthy undercurrent throughout the taste. Leafy hop flavors close out the taste gracefully.

Mouth feel: Full and soft, very pleasant, with champagne-like carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: A bit over-carbonated, but very nice and quite drinkable.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard sixteen-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.
