330ml Bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow:
Clear, slightly caramel tinged amber & topped with a thin, bubbly white head that fades to a patchy lacing across the surface.

Tropical fruits & caramel, some sweetness & hops that add to the bitterness. Some resinous pine and I could detect some citrus too, this one is quite an enjoyable with some sweet malts & hints of grapefruit on the nose too.

Quite bitter initially, more so than the nose with plenty of grapefruit & pine from the hops. Some sweetness and a good helping of caramel malts follows this but the hops & bitterness dominate. Citrus & orange flavours start to come through shortly after & some biscuit malts feature too.

Medium bodied & bitter with some sweetness throughout. The alcohol content was well hidden & the balance was good making the beer an easy on to sip away at. Carbonation was moderate to fine & there was a pleasantly bitter after taste too.

A pretty good first beer, my first from Alechemy. Quite bitter with good sweetness throughout & very much a drinkable double IPA that wasn't overly heavy on the alcohol content; I could see me going back to this one again in future.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2015, so it's a little out of date. Purchased a while back from Trembling Madness in York. Described as a golden double IPA with a citrus character.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A deep marmalade-amber hue with faint haze and low carbonation. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a moment or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer.

S: Aroma of intensely fruity hops with hints of clementine, mild grapefruit, citrus, subtle pine resin, vague tropical fruits, sweet caramel malt, ale yeast and stewed hops. Good stuff.

T: Tastes of overwhelmingly fruity aromatic hops and sweet caramel with a powerful bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, clementine, citrus, mild pine resin, dank weed, subtle tropical fruit, caramel malt, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Quite sweet, followed by a strident, hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with soft carbonation and good body. Hop oils stimulate the palate. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, citrus, sweet malt and earthy yeast.

O: Nice, though not mind-blowing. Looks OK but more fizz would be welcome. The aroma and flavour are great, with lashings of fruity hop notes underpinned by caramel malt and yeast. Decent body; could be a shade more carbonated. Perhaps this bottle is just a bit too old to be a stunner. That said, it's still a characterful beer that deserves sampling if you chance across it.
