2012 Bottle, drinking out of the chalice:
Appearance: Dark brown with an off-white head that has some staying power. Definitely looks unfiltered with some nice yeast chunks swirling around like snow in a globe.
Smell: Booze, brown sugar, dark fruit, raspberries and some biscuity aroma.
Taste: Definitely in line with the nose. Brown sugar paired with dark fruit up front, with some berry and red wine notes that give way to a bread biscuit middle. This all fades out into the smoothest of finishes that kind of just sees everything decrescendo into a pleasant bready finish, that leaves you longing for the next sip. There is some booze noticeable in the middle/end depending on how you drink, but it's nothing overbearing and definitely far from harsh.
Mouthfeel: Not too much, not too little. Just right for this gravity and lends to the "drinkability" *cringe.*
Overall: Don't know if it lives up to the godly hype(what beer can?) but make no mistake, this is a balanced, delicious beer with a great flavor profile that didn't disappoint me.
