A 500ml clear glass bottle with a BB of July 2014, so it's a tad out of date. Hope it's still alright. Picked up last year as part of the Sainsbury's 2013 Beer Hunt. The label describes it as a golden ale hopped with Citra and Styrian Goldings.
A: Poured into a straight pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A hazy pale-gold colour with fine sediment and good carbonation. Forms a smallish head of white foam that lasts for a moment before dissipating.
S: Aroma of fruity yeast esters with hints of vague caramel/toffee, stewed leaves and faint husky grain. A sensory non-event.
T: Tastes of yeast esters and weak malt, with a dry finish. Notes of watery caramel/toffee, fruity yeast esters, subtle grass/hay, stewed leaves, mild cabbage water, husky grain and acrid cardboard. Well-attenuated, followed by a restrained yet harsh bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and an insubstantial body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity yeast esters, stewed leaves and harsh cardboard.h
O: Well this is a bit shit. I know it's old but still (and I daresay the clear bottle doesn't help). Looks alright but it's all downhill from here. The aroma and flavour are dominated by yeasty esters and stewed leaves, along with a smattering of unpleasant off-notes. Lacklustre body. No great shakes - characterless and unsatisfying. Give it a miss.

Clear 500ml bottle: BBD end of Jul 14. Poured into a UK pint sleeve in a hot kitchen on 20 Oct 13 while preparing a Sunday lunch for a few people.
Refreshing and a lot better overall than I was expecting.
Leaning towards orange from golden in colour, full, if a little thin, white head.
Nice fruity nose, tropical feel to it with a slight malty molasses note as it warmed a little.
The taste was a pleasant if subtle blend of flavours. Mild hop front and finish with a semi-sweet malt centre.
OK rather than wonderful, but it was fine for me when I had it.

Sainsbury's Great British Beer Hunt 2013
Pours golden yellow. Small tight head that quickly dissipates.
Citrus hop aroma. Slight ester.
Tangy with a bit of sweetness.
Rather thin. Possibly better in Summer but certainly not now.
I will not buy this one again.
