Been a few times. Great set of rotating draft beers. Solid food options. CT can be expensive for draft options but pricing seemed reasonable. Great vibe. They do half pours which I haven't found in CT. Nice option for those that want to try multiple beers.

This is one of my favorite places in CT to go for both beer and food. My Husband and I go there a few times a week and am never let down. The food is incredible. The owner used to be a butcher and really knows his meat. If you are looking for a great steak, or a burger this is the the place to go. Their burger is way better than Plan B. The meat is a much better quality. And then the menu is full of other amazing dishes. The owner and his brother operate 2 Hope Well. If you are familiar with that restaurant and like it, I highly suggest coming here. The food quality is the same, but you have the tavern feel. And the best thing - the tap list is great! It has a great rotation and they occasionally get their hands on some really great hard to get beer. They also keep a good list of bottles and cans as well. I highly recommend this place!

This is a great place to grab a beer for any occation whether it's after work, or for a special occation. There aren't a lot of taps but they are all top notch. The staff is also very knowledgible about their beers and even have started to brew a couple things themselves with a partner. I believe the lastest was the Birch Hill Coffee Stout. Food is great as well especially the chipotle bbq wings.

Only 9 taps (that's why they got a 3 for selection) but all of them were solid, solid craft selections. Leaned a little IPA heavy, who doesn't these days? Several bottle selections too. Beers were very reasonably priced and proper glassware used.

I ordered Chipotle honey BBQ wings, which were tasty, plentiful, but overly saucy, IMO.

My only criticism, and it's a mild one, is they have too many stools jammed in at the bar... It's a small place, I get it, and they're trying to accommodate as many as possible, but I like to have just a little elbow room when I'm bellied up to the bar. And this place did get pretty crowded during my visit.

Other than that, it's a great little spot.

Birch Hill is tucked away in a shopping plaza. A smaller restaurant with a cozy bar area. Although they don't run a ton of taps, it's all quality. Maine Brewing (they do get Lunch on draft), Green Flash Palate Wrecker, Stone Enjoy By, etc. have all rotated on draft. Very good bottle selection as well. A wonderful find!

Birch Hill Tavern has become a favorite of my wife, family, friends and me. The service is consistently excellent; the restaurant itself is filled with dark wood tables and chairs, making it very comfortable, but not too dark. The menu focuses on comfort foods and quality is consistent. The fish and chips (best I've had in CT) are a stand out item. The pulled pork sliders and corned beef reuben are also quite good.

What makes Birch Hill Tavern great, is the beer selection (bourbons too), and knowledge of it's owners. Elite beers can be hard to come by in Connecticut, but great beers, of all varieties (Founders, Maine, Green Flash, etc), are consistently rotated through. John, one of the owners and frequent bartender, is a pleasure to speak with and always happy to talk beer.

This place can still be considered a "hidden gem" as it's less than a year old and not fully on the radar. The beer selection is great (they get all the limited allocations from Founders, Maine Beer, etc.) and if you ask you may be able to try a few special beers that are kept off the list - they've been know to keep a pretty good stash. Beer dinners are hosted monthly, most recently Stone, Cisco, and Sixpoint. Which leads me to the food, which is what sets this place apart. Top Notch. Absolutely worth checking out.
