Honey roasted peanut and fresh coffee aromas arise from the glass of this deliciously balanced brown ale. Dark Chocolate, hints of vanilla and nutty undertones are evident mid-pallet, while roasted coffee beans round out the finish.

On tap at Barrel Republic, I didn't pour myself enough to get a good head; but what I got stuck around the glass as lace.
Smells and Tastes were almost as good: a nice roasted sweet malt thing going on, bittersweet. So, not much need for hops.
Shake sat richly and softly in my mouth; a pleasant brown that finishes balanced.

My first from Acoustic Ales (a clever name), I went on their website and they have much of the San Diego feel-good and individuality of craft brewing. But Acoustic seems to have excelled particularly well in the Belgian styles. And for that, I'd like to stick around and sample more of their wares (instead of going back to winter in Chicago.)

Smells like baby vomit.
Tastes like hookah.
No kidding.
And for some reason it's ok, if you're into that kind of thing.

Wow! Lots of coffee in this one! Bitterness from hops with the Dark chocolate and lots of malt and coffee. Enjoyed at BT's BBQ in Huntington Beach. Recommended...

Had this on tap at Deli Stop.

Appearance is a dark brown, caramel colored where the light shines through. Good head but no retention. Decent lacing down the side of the glass.

Not much of an aroma. A faint scent of peanut.

Flavor falls a bit flat. A slight roasted flavor. Tastes bright and slightly bitter. Tastes nutty and dry on the finish.

Mouthfeel is balanced, good body and a medium amount of carbonation.

Overall this beer doesn't deliver a whole lot of flavor. I prefer a brown that's a little more aggressive than this. Not a bad beer.

This is advertised as balanced with a coffee finish, but it really is overwhelmed by the hops. Too bad, I was looking forward to this one, but there's no balance here.

Bottled on 7/8/15.

Pours a murky super dark orange-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, brown sugar, nut, and earth aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, nut, caramel, brown sugar, and yeast flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of toast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but there is a yeast presence in the taste that gives this one a bit of a weird aftertaste.

Serving type: bottle.

They may have changed the recipe, but my glass off the tap smelled of vanilla and cinnamon; reminded my of apple pie. The flavored were subtle and delicious. Add to that it was a nitro tap, and was smooth, smooth, smooth. They set the bar high with this one; it's hard to beat!

Dark murky cola-ish brown. More brown than cola though. A good finger of fine creme head.
Nose is sweet and nutty. Almost a tart note towards the end. Almost a touch creamy.
Flavour follows suit. Brown sugar and nuttiness. Maybe a hint of molasses as well. Creamy mouthfeel and an acrid bitter finish. Lingers
A bit bitter, but otherwise a really solid brown. James would be proud?
