Pours a very dark brown, almost black. Smokey espresso nose, toasted/blackened grains, with dry-bitter hops (light). Creamy body, lighter than expected, bitter hop nuttiness throughout, light smokey tail and buttery, with light caramel malts, brown sugar, with a smokey finish.

Deep, dark blackness, lush tan head, leaving some film behind.
Aroma: cocoa and coffee, creamy, sweet, malty and delicious.
Taste: here comes the smoke, but it's just a hit, nothing major, a little trickle on the palate that rests awhile and lightly lingers. Rich, malty, full-bodied, and exceptionally smooth. There's a flash of bitterness, swiftly smothered by toasty/roasty malt. Liking it lots.

Aroma is fairly smoky and peaty, with roast malt and oat nuttiness finishing out.
Flavor is chocolatey throughout, with a touch of dark fruit character early, finishing roasty, slightly bitter, with soft smoke lingering in the aftertaste. Another well crafted Hammerheart brew. Finished a touch overly bitter.

On tap at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis. Served in a shaker glass.
Appearance: Color is a dark blackish brown. Moderate amount of bubbles and about one finger of beige head that settles into a thin creamy layer.
Smell: A roasty and fairly sweet dark malt forward aroma with a scent of chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Dark roasted barley malt with hints of dark chocolate, coffee, smoke, biscuit, oatmeal, and yeast. Sweet hints of brown sugar. Subtle hints of dark fruit along with some earthy hops. A very solid smokey aroma.
Taste: Like it smells, a roasty, smokey, and sweet dark malt driven taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Dark roasted barley malt with good notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and smoke along with some oatmeal, biscuit, caramel, and yeast. Sweet note of brown sugar. Slight dark fruit presence. Light backing notes of earthy hops. A pretty good taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, silky, and pretty smooth.
Overall: A pretty good smokey version of an Oatmeal Stout. Good roasty chocolate, coffee, and oat notes with a nice touch of smoke.

Appearance: Black, good head.
Smell: Bit of dark chocolate, coffee, bit of smoke.
Taste: Dark chocolate to start, mild sweetness throughout, light smoke in the finish.
Overall: Brought home a mini-growler of one of Hammerheart's year-round beers. It's a solid oatmeal stout with just a bit of the smoked malt that Hammerheart likes to use in most of their beers. Good beer.
