“Hella” is a NorCal thing, and when used, is a sure tip-off that you are from Northern California. A classic “West Coast” Double IPA; clean malt flavor, hop flavor forward, without all the bitterness. Hella

This is an old school west coast IPA with a tad more smoothness. You get the trifecta, citrus, malt, and pine with the taste. It can be cloying with the feel but it knows when enough is enough. Best enjoyed when chilled, but even as it warmed I found it did not change character as much. This is one of those beers where the can art matches what you get inside the can. For those tired of the new england style, give this one a shot because for a 9%er, you do not taste the alcohol but instead get the hops in honesty. An above average double ipa, but not quite on the cellarmaker/alvarado level that dominates the bay area.

On tap at The Counter (Mountain View), served in a shaker pint glass. Clear, deep golden yellow, with a short but frothy head of white foam. Dank and resinous, with some pine, citrus and caramel malt. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Hints of alcoholic heat. Classic IIPA.

Pours a golden honey color with a light haze to its transparency. Head is a finger of off-white foam. Aroma is heavy dank and resin hops right off the start, and they form the overarching narrative throughout this beer. Some late earthy malts adds some smoothness at the finish, despite the biting start. Flavor profile is controlled by the same two notes - dank and resin. Grassy, and herbaly hops add to the bite and hop presence. Some earthy malts at the finish as the hops fade, but they're faint. Alcohol bite at the close. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a soft effervescence up front that is maintained throughout. Overall, it's old school thru and thru, that is to say, a hop bite at the start with an abrasiveness throughout punctuated by an alcohol bite at the end.

Hella YEAH! Pours copper in color with a head that is slightly tanned as well. Nose is as advertised as is taste, piney and resinous. Only think missing in my opinion is the backbite. Superb beer.

Pours a clear amber color. 2 finger frothy white head. Retention is good, and there's some lacing on the glass.
The nose is very minimal. I do get a very faint hint of tropical hops, but so faint.
Taste - Nice and tropical up front, that has hints of pine in the background.
nice body. Slightly sticky feeling. A bit creemy feeling. Full bodied.
Good solid IPA. Tasty, and glad to have had the chance to try it.

I love double IPAs but this is a horrifying beer with utter imbalance, vomit-causing taste. This is truly one of the worst beers in the world. If you don’t believe me, just go ahead buy it & taste it. I say taste it, because trust me you will pour the rest 95% of the beer in the kitchen sink.

Can from Lúpulo. Fresh drop.
L: clear gold/amber with white head with nice lacing.
S: sweet, earthy, grass, dank.
T: pineapple rolled around in some wet grass and thrown in the blender. Maybe even some random yard clippings.
F: fairly full and slick, mildly bitter dry grassy finish. No boozy presence.
O: once again pretty malt-forward and sweet which isn’t my favorite. It makes me feel full and burpy. And the burps are wet grass. The beer can does describe it as “huge danky & resinous” so it’s honest advertising. It also does boast a 9% abv. Altamont is
