Seems more like a porter than a brown ale. Dark brown color and rich mouthfeel. Aroma and flavor are predominantly chocolate with a hint of pecan. The pecan becomes more distinct and noticeable as the beer warms. Overall, a very pleasant dark beer, a good one to end a drinking session with. I would probably try to bring one or two more of these home with if I make it out to LA again.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a dark mahogany brown with a fine two finger light tan head with great retention and pillowy lacing. Aroma of lightly toasted biscuit and caramel malt, nuts with a hint of grassy hops. Flavor is light toasted malt, nuts and grassy hops, finishing with light herbal grassy hop bitterness. Nutty, but not particularly pecan flavored. Medium bodied. A mild, well balanced brown ale with a bit of a hop bite in the finish. Although the flavor appears subtle, the ABV is well covered. A nicely made brown ale that with neither any notable flaws nor much intensity. My grandma would have liked this, I think, and I had no problem appreciating it either. The "Better than a $1 check on your birthday" quote on the can is pretty good. Can't argue.

Tallboy can poured into pint glass.

Clear, very dark brown beer with think tan head. Head lasts with lacing on the glass.

Nutty and malty smell with insiginificnat hop aroma

Taste overpowered by burnt malt, much more so that the English Brown Ales suggested on the can. Noticeable hop bite. Not as full-bodied as I expected. Overall the beer was good, but with a stronger earthy, burnt taste than expected.

Big foam-up in the narrow nonic. Glass still has piles of whipped-cream head ten minutes later. Color is an attractive deep chestnut brown with gold around the edges of the glass. Plenty of carbonation in the mouth. Smell is a little musty and English-hop-fruity.

Flavor is roasted and scorched barley with some nutty taste. Slightly sweet and quite full of malt. It tastes bigger and richer than the moderate body would suggest, but the alcohol comes through rather boldly. It keeps on sudsing with every pour. Rather biter after some sipping. I don't taste pecans specifically, but there is a nice nutty flavor of some sort. From the 16 oz can bought at Bottlecraft in San Diego.

On-tap at Boneyard Bistro, Sherman Oaks, CA

A: The beer is clear very dark reddish brown in color. It poured with a half finger high light tan head that died down and left a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of nutty malts are present in the nose—pecans stand out in particular.
T: Much like the smell, the taste has lots of flavors of pecans and nutty malts. Neither sweetness nor bitterness are perceptible.
M: It feels a bit shy of being medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a nice beer if you like nuts as they completely dominate the smell and taste.
