Served in a Monumental Insurance, short, snub glass.

A: Poured infinitely cloudy, somewhat on the blood-red side, and without much of a head, but so, so much lacing left behind.

S: Nice deep, rich, red velvet cake batter-esque scent. Sorta reminded me of Port "Shark Attack."

T: Definitely rye based due to the bitterness, but the hops broke that down somewhat. I'd say it's about 70/30 in favor of the rye.

M: The bitterness was the same type one might find biting into a WASA cracker. The carbonation was pretty much in the standard IPA range.

O: This was only my second Carson's brew and it was a really nice one!

Look - Deep amber/garnet color with a 1" off-white head that lingered around for about 40 seconds. Moderate lacing with a big ring around the top.
Smell - Notes of pine, rye spiciness, some citrus.
Taste - Very close to a 4 with notes of cara malt, more citrus and more spicy rye flavors. Also get some herbal notes as well.
Feel - Really smooth, medium body. Carbonation is right on and this beer finishes with a slight bitter hint.
Overall - Not a huge fan of Red IPAs but this was very nice. I would not mind getting a few more of these.

Pours a clean, deep red-amber, with a very limited amount of carbonation. Lacing is also quite minimal on this pouring.

Nose is caramel maltiness and a snap of lovely floral hops. A good start, for sure.

Taste is similar -- a fine melding of a session-worthy, toasty amber or red malts ale with an abundance of citrus and floral hops.Very solid, enjoyable, and worthwhile, as everything from Carson's has been so far.

Draft pint at Map Room.
Dense, rich and creamy foam, murky reddish body, long lasting head retention.
Dried apricot and sweet malt aroma, malt dominates.
Dry bitterness atop a significantly burly malt body, with a mild undercurrent of citric hoppy fruitiness. Some earthy spice as well. Smooth and medium bodied with a significant malty heft to it. Overall pretty good, interesting to see this show up here.

It wasn't bad but it's not breaking any barriers here. Kind of a cross between their red wheat and an IPA. A beer that doesn't know exactly who it wants to be.

look: Handsome copper, almost honey colored. Gig foamy off white head with messy thick lacing.
smell: Malty, citrus, some pine notes.
taste: just like the nose with a nice bitter finish softened a bit by the malt but not much.

12 oz. bottle, no bottled on date present. My second beer from Carson's Brewery, out of Evansville, Indiana, acquired a single bottle of this stuff as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - Pours a very dark burnt orange, borderline garnet red colored body. About a finger of airy khaki tan head that doesn't stay for too long. Thin spotty strands of lacing. Lacing is very sticky. Looks nice for the Red IPA style.

S - More malt forward than anything. Hop content is earthy, herbal, & dirty. Somewhat faded and overshadowed by the rich earthy caramel / toffee malts. Not piney or citrusy, I'd say. That horseradish aroma i sometimes find is in there. It's okay.

T - Taste is the same: more malt forward than anything. Hops are in there: herbal, earthy, & dirty. Malts steal the show, though: earthy, caramel, toffee, tea leaves.

M - Smooth & easy-drinking, especially for the moderate 7.00% abv. Very dry and bitter on the finish, but again, not citrusy or piney / resinous. A herbal dry bitterness takes the cake.

Overall, an average stab at the style from Carson's Brewery. Drinkable at best, but the abv could stand to be toned down just a tad, along with some other minor cleaning up. Either way, I look forward to trying more from Carson's Brewery.
