Received this can as an extra in a trade. No canning date available. Served chilled in a willi becher pint glass. From their website: "Don’t be fooled by the powerful hop aroma of Field 41 Pale Ale. Heavily dry-hopped with Simcoe and Ahtanum, this perfectly sessionable Pale Ale drinks easy with a smooth bitterness and is named for the hop field that is home to Bale Breaker Brewing Company. Light and refreshing, it’s the perfect beer for a day on the river or afternoon on the slopes." 4.5% abv and 38 IBU's.

In the glass, you find a deep golden body with a slight haze shimmer topped by a rich, thick white head that shows off with a beautiful display of lacework. Clearly a well-hopped pale ale!

As soon as the lid is popped, the drinker gets a strong whiff of lemongrass and dank weed. The beer plays up the freshness of their hops, and puts these aromatic, pungent Pacific Northwest hops front and center. It carries wave after wave of appetizing citrus, lemony, and dank smells, and after a while you can begin to smell the lighter, more subtle biscuit malt underneath.

This is certainly a "sessionable" pale ale, with little to no sweetness which creates a very light body that feels well-attenuated, smooth, and refreshing. There is a bite in the finish, with a light, lingering bitterness that lasts well into the aftertaste. Flavors of citrus fruit, pineapple, and cracker-like malt flavors mingle on the palate, and the finish exhale has more of the malt quality than hops.

Overall it's an excellent, extremely drinkable pale ale. Very hop forward, true to its American origins, with a bright and juicy hop note. It's only a touch thin, and personally I could see a bit more body actually helping this beer out considerably, if only for the sake of balance.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a one finger white head with good retention and lacing. Pleasant aroma of citrus and mild piney hops, tropical fruit, mild bready malt. Flavor is light biscuit malt with a hint of toastiness, slightly floral citrus hops, lemon and grapefruit rind citrus juice. Finishes with a long lingering grapefruit rind and hop bitterness. Medium bodied with a surprising light creaminess; great body for a low ABV pale ale. Great NW hopped pale ale with a very long flavorful aftertaste and lingering hops. It is hoppy enough to cause regret that it is not higher ABV and more intense, but as a pale ale, it shines.
