Pure black and a full tan head. Hoppy aroma. Tastes of rye and chocolate with a touch of phenols and hot as hell. This beer is all over the place an in your face but owns it.

Pours a dark brown into a Roughtail pint glass with a huge, creamy head that lasts several minutes. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate and spice. Nice mix of rye and hops on the taste, some toffee, chocolate and a little pine. Medium mouth. No date, but I found this in a sale bin, so it's probably been around a while. Still a nice brew. Roughtail is one of my favorite local breweries.

Received as an extra in a trade
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown nearly black with a big three finger finger mocha head that left very sudsy lacing.
S - Aromas of spicy aggressive rye, darker malts, little char. Nice rye notes
T - Taste is spicy rye, aggressive hop bitterness, grapefruit rind, chocolate, very nice spice notes.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, crisp, alcohol hidden very well.
O - Overall this beer was tasty, a pleasant surprise from Oklahoma. Very nice rye spice notes.

A: Huge dark tan head. Great retention & lacing. Black body.
S: Somewhat muted aroma of roasted malts, light chocolate, and some rye spice.
T: Interesting mix of roasted dark malts, spice, and herbal hops. Touch of chocolate. Pretty tasty, but finishes a little off – vegetal almost. In the 2nd half of the bottle, that vegetal taste all but disappeared – replaced w/ citric hops that meshed much better w/ the roast & light rye spice.
M: Medium+ body. Fairly light, fine carbonation.
O: I love rye IPAs and black IPAs, so expectations were high. Maybe too high, as the hops didn't quite take me where I wanted to go. Worth a try, but it doesn't quite measure up to their other offerings.
