I had high expectations for this beer after having finished a pint of Allagash Wit. Maybe that is why I am saddened.

I'm growing find of this style, but not this beer. Definitely not at it's price point of $10 per 6er.

The beer pours a yellow to semi gold haze that smells strongly of Orange from the moment you open the can. The appearance of the beer is fine. Nothing offensive. The taste gets me. It's very sharp from the moment lips touch the beer. Beyond tart, and hard for me to get past that when assessing the flavor. In addition to an unexpected and unwelcomed bitterness, I also get stale cracker. Possibly due to shelf life?

I'm hoping this was a bad experience resulting from high standards set by Allagash. I will give this one a try at the brewery.

All in all, better than bud... But not for the price

12 oz. single silver can from Trader Joe's poured into a globe glass. This white ale pours a light pale wheat with a thin cap of foam. Light haze shows an odd greenish hue to it.

Smell of light wheat and a hint of spice yet light and reaching. A good spin offers up a five second window of rich aroma components before falling back to a steady but subtle yeast character. Slight sweetness on the finish accompanies a steady flavor and feel.

Nice wit without the confusion of too much added spice. Simple yet straightforword with a good wheat/yeast balance. Yet touch thin at times but worth a visit.

Had a pint of this at The Fish Market across from the Del Mar racetrack. The beverage was delivered in a standard pint glass and was a straw yellow with the distinct whitbeir haze. My first taste reminded me of a Erdinger Weiss Bier...a compliment for a SoCa brewer! Nice malty mouthfeel, but not overly heavy. It really complemented the swordfish tacos nicely. Overall a very good offering from Saint Archer.

Like most wit beer. It has a slight haze, and the aroma is an orange like smell. You get your basic wheat, orange, and slight citrus fruit taste. Not picking up much other than that. Drinkable, and easy to drink, with a refreshing quality.

Cloudy pale yellowish color with a fine-grained foam in the big mug. Sudsy mouthfeel is quite pleasant. Light body. Crisp and tangy, but with a mellow malty base. There is a little coriander, but overall the spice is restrained and adds to the refreshing drinkability. A little bit of sweetness is also welcome, though it sticks to the Witbier side.

This is actually one of the better American-style Wits I've tasted. I have wondered if St. Archer had a reason to exist, but this proves there is life beyond the Blonde. On tap at Queenstown in San Diego.
