Appearance -3.5 /5
The head is foamy and white in color, approximately three+ fingers thick and dissipates after several minutes. The lacing left behind in the glass is a simple froth netting. This Scotch Ale has a rich brown hue with a slight hint of ruby red translucence when held to light.
Smell -4.25 /5
There is a definite honey-fruit aroma infused with some wafts of malts and sweet caramelized sugars. The smell is noticeable and definitely says Scotch Ale.
Taste - 4/5
The taste is malty/earthy-dried fruit with caramelized sugars.
Mouth Feel -4 /5
The beer is full-bodied and heavy with a slight alcohol quality. The carbonation is moderate with a slight sting at the end. This Wee Heavy finishes a bit dry but not in an overpowering way.
Overall - 4/5
Seventh Son’s Wee Beastie is a decent Scotch Ale however it falls a little short of my expectations regarding the characteristics of exceptional Scotch Ales IMHO. The complex flavors are muted, the alcohol is slight and the feel is full bodied resulting in a solid offering however I do think that I will pass on this in the future.

750 ml bottle. Served in a thistle glass, the beer pours a mostly clear ruby red/brown color with about an inch and a half tan head. Head retention is good, and there's a lot of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like honey, dark fruit, caramel malt, earthiness and a bit of peaty smoke. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some black tea and an herbal bitter flavor. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a biy syrupy and coating with a good amount of carbonation. It's easy and enjoyable to drink. I thought this was good, Seventh Son has been doing a nice job with their bottled brews lately. Certainly worth picking up! $10.99 a bottle.

Appearance: Pours a deep, clear ruby-brown. Big 2.5 finger head that looks like it has some staying power.
Smell: Dark fruit, burnt sugar.
Taste: Caramel is in your face. Just a hint of bitterness in the finish, and a smidgen of dark fruits throughout.
Mouthfeel: Smooth. Not overly carbonated, just enough to spark your taste buds.
Overall: I've yet to encounter a Seventh Son I do not love. Easy drinking, but has a kick at 9%.
