Had this on tap at the Seventh Son brewpub in Columbus. Medium amber color with thin head. Aroma is loads of fresh hops. Flavors are light on malt, but heavy on the hops. It’s almost too much, but not quite. Light to medium mouthfeel with a fairly dry finish. Enjoyable pale ale with a kick. If you like hops, you’ll like the Super Pale ale.

Appearance: Arrives with a slightly hazy amber color capped by a nice head that delivers some lacing

Smell: Vague hints of grapefruit and tropical tones

Taste: The malt provides a fairly neutral platform for the hops which are more tropical than grapefruity; papaya and pineapple flavors dominate through the finish with just a bit of residual sugars in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A pretty decent pale ale with a twist in the hop profile

Serving type: on-tap

Served from a fresh keg into a shaker pint.

Pours a light amber color, slightly darker than expected. Quarter inch head, with good lacing throughout.

Good smell--initial citrus burst, followed by slight bittering smell. Would have though this was an IPA by smell alone.

Taste brings grapefruit, mango--simcoe or mosaic hops, maybe. Taste not as strong as the nose would indicate. Slight pepper. Very balanced--not super bitter or resiny. Doesn't attack you with flavor, and lingers wells on the palate.

Mouthfeel is light, and goes down very smooth. Easy to drink more than one of these. Flavor might not stick as long as anticipated.

Overall, a strong initial offering from Seventh Son--my favorite of what I've tried. Will return to this one.
