Pours cloudy orange with a thin head. Some carbonation. Nice sweet pumpkin pie smell. The taste starts with the sweet pumpkin pie flavor and ends rather quickly. Not a ton of pumpkin spice but rather the sweet brown sugar flavor of pie. The beer is medium bodied and you can feel the carbonation on your lips.

Not much a beer flavor, but very drinkable. It has definite cinnamon, pumpkin pie flavors and smells and it's sweet. I was skeptical after a few of my friends did not like it, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Not one of my favorites. There's kind of a weird soda aftertaste. Also seems over spiced. I probably wouldn't get this again but it is not the worst pumpkin beer I've ever had.

Clear amber brown with one finger of white head that settles fairly soon. No lace observed.
Smell is big pumpkin pie spice with a touch of bread and lemon.
Taste is similar with the pie spice bready lemon soda taste. No hop notes detected. This is like liquid pumpkin pie but one on the sweet side.
Mouthfeel was like soda.
Overall a tasty shandy. It would be excellent at a Halloween Party but keep the kids away from it I think they would love it. I will revisit my review after I have a few more of these.

People! Let's not compare this beer to heady topper or even your average pumpkin beer like Shalafly or ale works... This is an in your mouth pumpkin pie experience and it is absolutely wonderful and refreshing and easy drinking. If you set your expectations properly you will not be disappointed!

There's a major reason I dislike a lot of pumpkin ales - they're overspiced. And sadly, this one smells like a total cinnamon bomb. I do get some lemony hints, though. Still, this smells like something I'd rather hang up on the rear view mirror of my Civic instead of drink. Taste is a bit better, though. Yes, all that cinnamon is there, being fairly annoying; however, I also get plenty of lemony hints. I'd almost suggest this is a shandy first, pumpkin beer second. Refreshing? Sure, why not. By design, I don't rate shandies well - despite the low score, this isn't a bad drink. It really gets cloying after a while, and it's fizzy as hell, but between this and your typical BMC crap, I'll pick this eleven times out of ten.

2.59/5: Definitely not the most awful thing I've put in my mouth

Horrid, sickening sweet and tastes of pumpkin pie spices. Among the worst beers I've every had. Its orange red in color, smells like pumpkin spice latte, tastes offensive and is so awful in the mouth I had to chock it down. Overall, garbage.

Not sure why this is rated so low....probably just because of the brewer, but I found this solid for anyone who likes pumpkin beers. Had it side by side with a Whole Hog Pumpkins Ale by Stevens Point, which is rated 91 on here, and it stood up ok against it. For the price and availability I will seek it out again.

Pours a finger of head on a hazy dark straw body.
The aroma is stale veggies and faint pumpkin.
The taste is pumpkin from a can.
The texture is thicker.
Not bad, but not good.

This pours a semi-clear dirty copper color with a slight head. The aroma is mild with a decent amount of pumpkin and spices. The flavor is a decent amount different than your usual pumpkin beer as this one adds the lemon peel but still has a good seasonal pumpkin flavor. This is a lot better than the rating would suggest.

Jack-O Traveler Shandy has a medium, off-white head, a mostly clear, bronze appearance, a few bubbles breakomh off and up, and moderate lacing left behind. The aroma is of pumpkin spice and pie crust (in other words, pumpkin pie). The taste is also of pumpkin pie, with pie crust, nutmeg, cinnamon, and pumpkin pulp, with some background lemon showing up at the end. Mouthfeel is medium, and Jack-O Traveler finishes semi-dry and easy drinking.

First off, I've NEVER been one for pumpkin beers until I tried this one.

Enjoyed in a pint glass, it poured an orange/copper color with a small white head which didn't last long.

The smell is mainly nutmeg and/or pumpkin spice, not much else.

The taste is a little weird at first, but after a few sips I got cola like other reviewers stated, but also got a light hit of pumpkin and lemon to finish it off.

Mouth-feel is bubbly at first, but finishes syrupy.

Overall, this isn't that bad which is surprising seeming I've tried other pumpkin beers and never really enjoyed them. I'm sure the connoisseurs of pumpkin beers would go for something better than this, but for those, like I, who are having trouble finding a pumpkin beer for them, I would stick with this one. Cheers everyone!

Enjoy before 1/2016.

Pours a murky dark orange with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, lemon soda, cola, and pumpkin spice aromas. Taste is much the same with cola and pumpkin spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with an interesting mix of soda and pumpkin spice aspects all around.

Serving type: bottle.

Not a bad tasting pumpkin ale at all. Almost like a Schlafly pumpkin ale light, especially the 4.4% abv compared to Schlafly's 8.0%. Light enough that you can drink a few.

With a fantastic 'Autumn-like Day' today, why not a pumpkin brew to get in the mood for cooler weather and football! Sampling right now on 8/19/15. Picked up a single bottle at Hy-Vee as part as "Make your own 6" for $8.99. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a 'Jack o'Lantern" handled glass stein (from Salvation Army Store for 29c like new).

Brew pours a hazy dark amber in color with a good 1+-finger foamy eggshell head. Some decent spotty lacing is seen when sipped. Aroma is of fresh pumpkin, some spice and a hint of wheat. Pretty much sums up the taste as well. Nothing overpowers anything else with perfect blend and taste. Lighter-bodied and not heavy unlike some of this style. Soft carbonation which works for this one. Overall, a new tasty seasonal brew I would drink again.

Pours amber in color with a decent head. Smells of pumpkin and spice. Get real pumpkin flavor here with a perfect spice mix. This is very well done. Well be having more this season.

Pours an effervescent copper/orange with a minimal amount of sand colored head. Pretty good head retention & lacing

S: Pumpkin pie spice,

T: Follows the nose, dryness, some squashy & metallic notes as well. Cinnamon, nutmeg, all-spice as this warms. Finishes sweet & with pumpkin pie spice

MF: Light body , soft carbonation, thinnish

Drinks easy, but fairly forgettable. One & done

This tastes like cola mixed with an overspiced pumpkin beer. It also has the thin body of a soda. I'd pass on this one unless you're really into shandies.

Appearance - 3.25/5
Pours a medium orange color, clear, about one finger of head when initially poured, dissipates down to minimal head. Can see almost no carbonation rising up this beer.

Smell - 3/5
Strong pumpkin and nutmeg flavors

Taste - 4/5
A sweet lemon taste, mixed with pumkin and nutmeg flavors. It sounds slightly weird, but I think this beer pulls it off well. It's kind of in between a summer beer (the lemon) and a fall beer (pumpkin), making it a perfect transition beer as the seasons are changing.

Mouthfeel - 4/5
Medium bodied, light carbonation, fairly crisp.

Overall - 3.75/5
I was happy with this beer. I didn't really know what to expect, but it turned out to be quite nice. The mix between the lemon and the pumpkin/fall spice is something I've never seen and so it was a unique experience, one that was quite tasty. I would consider getting this beer in August/September as a season-transition beer.

It's time for... ironic beer of the month! A strange brewery and a beer that I assume will be horrible, in the middle of a huge blizzard of the decade, well except for the one from 2 years ago.

Pours a pasty white fizzy fluffy 1 finger head that surprisingly fades semi slowly, decent soapy lacing, obviously filtered crystal clear burnt sienna dark auburn toasty brown color.

Nose is quite interesting, not as horrible as I expected, definitely a mix of lemon shandy and pumpkin spice latte beer, some mild pumpkin notes, fake pumpkin, lots of spices, coriander perhaps, clove, cinnamon, allspice, perhaps, not quite sure as it's just a hodge podge of spices, drowned by lemon zest, citrus rind, etc. A mild wheat based beer and messy malt, sweet syrup fake like beer, but still not that bad.

Taste is more of the same, but this time the pumpkin pie spices dominate, lots of cinnamon, clove, allspice, nutmeg too perhaps, all mixed, with plenty of canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie filling. Then sweet malt, malt extract and syrupy mess, touch wheat, etc, and plenty of lemon zest and lemonade, etc. Finish is bitter, lots of lemon and lemonade, mild spices and a little pumpkin note, etc.

Mouth is med to a bit lighter bod, mildly syrupy, lighter carb.

Overall not quite as bad as I expected, delivers what it expected, plenty of lemonade and lemon shandy, with lots of pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices, although all fake and macro beer like, but despite being decent and delivers what it expects, it's still not very enjoyable and tastes fake. So pound it and move on, or maybe even dump it when I get sick of it soon.

Look: Clear light brown, good head that dissipates quickly leaving no lacing

Smell: Lemony citrus, pumpkin, light malts

Taste: Pumpkin and pie spices, bright lemony taste, light biscuity malt

Mouthfeel: Light body, good crisp carbonation

Overall: I don't love pumpkin beer or shandy but combining the two makes them surprisingly palatable. I could easily drink a couple of these. Fairly good overall, though probably not something I would regularly get.

was it just me? or is this thing pretty good? never would have thought to do a pumpkin shandy, but the lemonade aspect of this does a lot of the pumpkin, livens it up without the need for fall spices, which i guess makes it pretty unique in the pumpkin beer world. also, are these guys new? this is the first ive seen from them but am indigenous to the area. its clearish and rather orange, strange looking really, especially for what it is. the taste is nice though, slightly tart from the citrus, rich and earthy from the pumpkin, clean in the finish, and indeed refreshing. im not sure the right context for this, as its too fally for hot weather with the squash, and too light in body and high in carbonation for a hearty fall beer, so its sort of stuck in no mans land out in the middle of september or something, but i like it just the same. uniqueness goes a long way with me, and this is certainly that. also appreciably dry instead of sweet like many other shandy types, so that helps it stay sessionable for me.

From an ABC mixed six - it was terrible. Poured a brown color almost like it was 'off'. Very syrupy sweet, like fake lemonade. Bessie had to finish it for me....

Wasn't crazy about this, something about wheat and pumpkin just don't go together. The wheat makes this beer really weird and almost slimy feeling as you sip when combined with the pumpkin. Was burping up pumpkin spice flavor for hours long after I had half a bottle and not in a good way. Just wasn't for me I guess.

A. Average poor, little head that dissipates in seconds. Very little carbonation. Color dark cloudy orange that traps the light and promotes inner shadows.
S. Pumpkin spice, burnt pumpkin pie but not in a good way.
T. At first taste is pumpkin spice followed by gag reflex kicking in. To be blunt it tastes like a 40oz of Old English 800 with pumpkin spice. Separately they are good but together gross.
M. Watery, little syrup.
O. One of the worst pumpkin beers I’ve had. Don’t bother.
