Not to be confused with the Churchill's pub in San Marcos, this one is a real cigar bar that happens to have 20 taps. It's an oasis in the Old Town beer desert of Mexican restaurants. It's a jolly place with people coming and going, greeted as long-lost friends by the staff as well as their comrades. The gents who run the place are the friendliest of any place I've been to. Not beer geeks, but eager to help and offer tastes of anything.
There is a patio with 10 tables outside along with a sports tv, though not obtrusive. There are just a few stools indoors with the tiny bar. Actually, everything is wide open to the air in every season. If you do happen to enjoy a smoke, this is your place in San Diego. If not, the breeze is blowing and a whiff of expensive cigar adds to the atmosphere.
Beers on tap always include Chimay, Unibroue, and Allagash varieties. Changing varieties of Firestone, New Belgium, and local smaller breweries. Old Chub from Colorado and Sculpin from Ballast Point. Usually there are several stronger beers like Coronado Stupid Stout, Delirium Tremens, and Stone RuinTen. A bunch of bottles, plus quite a variety of wines and Port by the glass.
