The Loose Moose was a happening place when I visited recently on St. Patricks day to catch up with a couple of friends I hadn't seen in at least year. Lots of activity, place was packed by 6 pm with a combination of students I surmise from Toronto and the younger professional crowd looking to celebrate the fun. Place was pretty clean all things considered and decent tap list full of local (GTA) craft offerings although, there wasn't much in the way of hard to find beers on tap.

Started with a spearhead Moroccan brown ale on tap that was pretty good, followed it up with a Guinness, because well st. Patricks day and finished things off with a half pitcher of Muskoka's detour. Service was predictably slow, given the large crowd both upstairs and downstairs, I can't rally criticize too much. Food was also good, standard pub fare. Fish tacos were pretty good and hit the spot. Prices aren't cheap, but they're toto bad either and given the craft selections, it's definitely a step or two up from the chain style restaurants. Yet no so craft oriented that they will still serve green Alexander Keith's, as my friends enjoyed.

Worth a shot, if you're looking to have a good time, and want to enjoy conversation and companionship with some very solid beers, moreso than sit down and enjoy the latest double bourbon barrel aged stout or a triple IPA.

A recent member of the craft brew network. Two dozen local craft brew taps. Not necessarily the latest IPAs and barleywines, but the transitional beers are mostly represented. A black lager or coffee stout as something special. A classy restaurant with many tables. A huge bar, with ample space encouraging patrons to walk about. Sports on several TVs. Bartenders are basic in the beers. A second set of about 24 taps devoted to the macros, with a few of their new offerings, such as Innis and Gunn. Open to 2 am. Fulfills a geographic need for a beer bar between Barhop and C'est What. Welcome to the scene.
