Poured from 375mL corked & caged bottle into a tulip. Trifecta 4, bottle 401/450. Much thanks to BA davidsonrva for the trade!
Appearance: totally black body with a finger of creamy tan foam atop. Quite good.
Smell: rich roasty aroma with a bit of chocolate, a boozy fruitiness and a definitely brandy-like character. It's also massively sweet smelling, so we'll see how this plays out in the flavor. I like it.
Taste: nicely roasty with a good chocolate character and more of that boozy fruitiness. I don't know how much of that is due to the brandy, but I could see the brandy playing well with this beer's strengths. Very tasty.
Mouthfeel: big body with a huge carbonation and a massive, mouth-filling creaminess. Whoa.
Overall: this beer is a delightful treat. I'm quite glad I had a chance to try it.

375ml bottle into a tulip.
dark black pour with a slight creamy beige head. smell of brandy barrel and chocolate. taste is exceptionally smooth. the brandy barrel is there for sure so it makes it very sweet but you should know that going in. it is so easy to drink. dark fruit and roast flavors as well. body is a bit thin but i dont think it detracts here as a huge thick body is not what they were going for. carbonation is a bit high as well...
overall i loved this. had it twice a few months apart and it was world class both times..

Batch 1 (2013 release). FW mini snifter.
A: Pours a Coca Cola brown with just a whisper of off white head, leaving a razor thin collar and a flat looking surface. No lacing or retention to speak of.
S: Faint cocoa, red fruit (dried cherry), slight sweetish brandy, and (surprisingly enough) firm chestnut. The nose is very nice and well balanced, but on the faint side.
T: Very engaging interplay of chocolate, mild roast, and red fruit, along with some vanillin and oak, with a little nuttiness and boozy brandy on the backend. A little alcohol is noticeable on the finish.
M: Silky smooth, viscous and full bodied, with a perfectly light carbonation. Superb mouthfeel.
O: Highly drinkable, and a delicious rendition of what almost reminds me more of a BA old ale than BA RIS. Decidedly on the milder side, but none the worse in that respect—in fact, that only makes it more drinkable. A little bit on the pricier side ($12 for 375ml), though.
This bodes extremely well for Adroit Theory if they can keep up this sort of quality.

massive thanks to OlavZipser for this unreal surprise!!! enjoyed from my TB teku.
bottle number 339 of 450
a - brew poured a deep black with great shine...why, it is as black as my soul. ironic. minimal head that was gone quick and only a thin oil slick of bubbles danced on the surface. great packaging though. really great labelling and a hang tag with one of details taped over the cork and cage (cork was a bit of a bitch to get out, but once out...same incredible level of detail).
s - nose is soft chocolate roast with a really nice wash of fruity booziness from the brandy. like chocolate covered fruit. really nice, fairly decadent...my mouth waters.
t - wow, tickled immediately with a lush fruitiness and then almost immediately after the fruit touches my taste buds, i am slammed in the face with a wall of rich lush liquid chocolate. intense and powerful. first sip is simply stunning. as i dig into the beer, the complexity comes out with the cherry as the back bone and big nuttiness intertwined in roasted chocolate. really fantastic.
m - lush and chewy...but still silky smooth (if that makes sense). the booze shine is great on this one.
o - a damn fine beer. i'm pleased to say that the beer inside the bottle is even more impressive than packaging. iso others in this series.
