Another rudzud share, thanks Matt.

Huge huge pillowy head takes up 3/4 of the glass, fades slowly with messy collapsing head, tons of messy lacing, murky gray orange color.

Nose is loaded With Brett funk, horse hair funk, as well as mild pineapple and tropical fruit funk, swirling it brings a bit of gin and juniper, lemon rind and citrus, some wheat like malt.

Taste floral and lots of citrus, lemon rind up the wazoo and funky horse blanket Brett overpowers that even, just all lemon zest and Brett. Very mild juniper gin note in the background, and mild wheaty malt toasty. Bitterness ramps with lemon rind ave little spicy bitterness. Finish dries but stays sticky, more lemon rind bitterness increases, little juniper gin late.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, way too much carb.

Overall interesting Brett and lemon rind, but just not the beer it was supposed to be, very little gin, too much bitterness, way over carbonated, etc.

Review from on tap at brewery (from memory) and bottle.

A: on tap, pours a nice and clear golden color with a full, bright white head. Out of bottle, it's a little cloudy, especially towards the bottom. Tasty, but knocked appearance down a bit.

S: I really enjoy gin, so I found the flavor on this beer to be wonderful. A nicely balanced citrus hop aroma is paired with the strong botanicals from the gin. Not aggressive, but impossible to miss. On tap, the aroma was a 5.0, but a small deduction because the gin aroma from the bottle was a little more subdued.

T: The aroma pretty much follows through into the taste. The underlying pale is mellow and a great delivery mechanism for the bright hoppy citrus flavors and of course, more gin. This is a wild ale using true open fermentation and there is a mild funky complexity mid taste. It will be interesting to see what happens to the taste in a couple months.

M: Light, fairly highly carbonated. Appropriate for style.

O: Bright citrus flavor and gin - not much more to say. I hope they make this beer again, because I doubt my bottles last long. Another excellent beer from this new brewery.

Bottle opened on 1.9.14

A - Huge gusher!!! Pours a cloudy light brown with a huge light tan head that never fades.

S - Gin, pine, and some oakiness. One of the best noses I have ever smelled, and I don't even really like Gin.

T - Same as the nose, but complex and very layered.

D - Tons of carbonation with a lighter body.

O - Over carbonated, but complex and unique with an amazing nose.

Growler from Zupan's on Belmont

A hazy, murky, reddish copper with a dense, dirty white head that falls off to a ring leaving nice lacing. The nose is dominated by gin and its botanicals. Juniper, pine, a light citrus are all present, along with a modest funk. As with all/most de Garde beers, this is a little messy with a mildly chewy/chalky yeast aroma. There is a moderate hop aroma as well, with citrus and lemon verbena, both of which pair really well with the gin character. Bright and refreshing, this is great.

The palate opens with a blend of gin flavors, yeast and a mild tannin character. Now, the tannins don't wholly work with the juniper and in some ways, this does taste a touch oxidized (especially the hops), with a mild soapiness, though I can't tell if that's from a poor fill or poor handling elsewhere. The mid-palate has flavors of honey, a little toffee and some pine. Mildly sweet on the finish with some gin flavors, this medium-light bodied beer is mildly carbonated. Solid on the palate. Solid, tasty stuff.

12oz pour at Bailey's

A: Light golden color with a thin white head.

S: A lot going on here. Mostly hops and funk with notes of citrus.

T: Took me several sips to take in everything happening in this beer. Bright cirtusy, floral hops, a slight earthy funky tartness and gin. The gin barrel aging of this beer puts it over the top, its an easily identifiable component but it does not dominate or take away from the hops or funk one bit.

M: Dry, fine carbonation. The consistency reminded me of sparkling water. One of the best aspects of the beer.

O: If you ever the opportunity to try anything De Garde, don't think, just do it. This was like a more refined version of some of the earlier hoppy gin barrel stuff they've done and it exceeded my expectations. Outstanding.
