Had this one at March Madness 2016. Had a dull reddish brown appearance, looks earthy like a flanders, but no. It didn't hold a head, it was carbonated, but it just wasn't into the retention thing. And you might have noticed that there is a lot of "systemic" discrimination in the appearance scores against a beer that looks sad and can't retain any head. Lulz.
The aroma fit the commercial tug job, there was more cherry than raspberry.
Taste wise, the wood almost went prominent here, plenty of oak notes upside a dark cherry and raspberry sourness. Acidity is strong but not problematic. Sour power is also above average. Good dry mouthfeel, despite its malty and fruity appearance. Didn't think it was all that funky but also had a nice pasture meets beach quality of nuance to it. Some acetic acid to it as well, making me check the label one more time to assure myself this is not a flanders red ale.
Another winner for de garde aside from my opinion that it doesn't look sexy (especially when compared with ones like Rouge Buveaux).

Sweet and tart, berry-cherry, and big oak barrel nose on this one! Taste follows with fruity and tart berry with a hint of funkiness upfront...and then an almost too prominent oakey barrel finish. It could be the age or it could be that this bottle got a little extra sediment in it, but the oak takes away a bit from the fruity vibe and clean finish. It is still quality and good, though!

Special Rouge get more interesting as you drink it. Amazingly crafted. Worth the trip to Tillamook.

Pours an amber-ish magenta. Some musty funk and raspberry on the nose. Nice tart raspberry with a some musty, cheesy, cherry funk on the finish. Many multi-fruit sours will have one fruit dominate over the others. This masterfully toes the line and presents both the raspberries and cherries with balance. There's only a touch of acidity, making it very drinkable too.

Funky aroma, lots of hay, barnyard, red berries especially raspberry,
Taste is same as aroma, very fruity, sour lemon tart.

The color of this beer is trying to be red, but fills to an almost caramel-cube brown oddly enough, with a minimal, thin off-white film. It's possible the bottle got shook up or maybe there was a bit too much sediment in this one.
Overall I'm getting really mature, red fruits and skins paired with oaks and filled with tannins. This is greater than the sum of its parts as it's verging into dry red wine territory, and considering I've had a few tart red wines, maybe those are closer to well done, mature sour beer territory.
