Pours a dark golden with plenty of foam in the Piraat tulip. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bine & Vine in San Diego. Wonderful Mosaic aroma of pine, fresh cut hay, and a whiff of honeysuckle. Just the right amount of sweetness and the bitterness is distinct but restrained.
This tastes like a double IPA, but it has the light body of a "session IPA." Sharp and spicy going down the throat. Hops are zippy and even a little hot. Crisp and refreshing. So aromatic and delicious. This is a great brew in the moderate alcohol range.

Poured from can into pint glass. Thin head, nice golden color. Not a strong nose, subtle hints of hops but not grassy or piney. Spicy hop taste but again, not grassy, green, or piney. Not noticing any sort of fruit or anything in particular...maybe a bit citrus but not huge. Actually an easy-drink without the aggressive hoppiness or cloying fruity additives of other offerings, refreshing in its unpretentiousness. Hop bitterness lingers a bit on back of the tongue but isn't oily. Pretty good overall.

Syrupy, no hop, little malt, just gross. This tastes like a saturated starburst lemon candy.

i like an ipa at this lower abv, more drinkable in terms of volume, nice this time of year, extend the session a bit. this is the wiens beer that has come in and made the most noise i think, i hear about this one a little more than the others in the early going. it has a bright hop profile, apparently a single hop ipa as part of a series, but the hop is not listed on the draft list, so i am left to speculate, and i would think citra would be a decent guess, as it has that very distinct aroma, quite lush and fresh in this instance, and is citrus forward in the flavor without being too bitter, all things i associate with citra hops. i like how hoppy it is, pretty flavorful for such a light beer, and it all tastes pretty fresh to me. perhaps a bit light in body, and without enough bitterness to ever really finish out, almost more of a pale ale than an ipa, but a solid beer overall. in limited exposure so far, the wiens stuff has been good, if not quite distinct enough to really stand out at all. might get lost in the shuffle a bit here, but we will see...

Excellent!
L: great looking beer classic IPA look.
S: Pleasantly hoppy, Mosaic aroma is strong but not overwhelming.
T: Well balanced. Malt profile allows this hoppy beverage shine.
B: the abv was perfect.
I had this ale fresh off the tap at the brewery. Excellent brew

Bottled 12/25/15.
Pours a hazy honey orange with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus zest, dirty berry, fermented pineapple, and earthy hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, tropical fruit, pine needle, and earthy hop flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid Mosaic hop aromas and flavors that get better as the beer warms up.
Serving type: bottle.
