Jet black body and a tan had as one would expect from the style. Poured a rather large head that disappeared fairly quickly. Fairly roasty aroma with hints of dark chocolate. Taste is all chocolate and coffee, no burnt fruit here. This isn't a sickly sweet chocolate though, there is a faintly dry bitterness that complements the chocolate perfectly. Mouthfeel is spot on for a stout of this strength; velvety and rich without being syrupy or over-carbonated.
All in all, a very nice stout.

Bottle into pint glass.
Hmmmm. I had high hopes for this one after enjoying Weird Beard's other stouty offerings but this one comes up short for me. Disappointed. Looks ok, smells muted and tastes so-so. The biggest problem to my mind is it is way too carbonated, the mouthfeel spoils it completely and has none of the creaminess that I associate with beers of this style. Sorry Weird Beard, this one's not for me.

330ml can served into a tulip glass
Look: Thick, black and opaque with a dense, but rather thin, head with a considerable degree of retention. Eventually recedes to a foam cap, leaving behind some very fine lacing.
Smell: Quite hoppy for a stout, but less so than some of Weird Beard's other brews. There's a big hit of coffee and malt in there too, so the net result is a finely balanced combo of fruity hops and dark, chocolatey malt.
Taste: Big on dark, roasted coffee and dark chocolate with just a hint of floral hoppiness lurking in the background. Quite a creamy taste too, no doubt due to the oats used in the brewing process. Not quite as intense as a full-on coffee or chocolate stout but at the same time there's a lot more going on than your average oatmeal stout as well.
Feel: Smooth, creamy and very drinkable - long, dry aftertaste with a healthy dose of malt and hops.
Overall: Pretty damned good - definitely a contender for my favourite oatmeal stout and pretty impressive for a canned beer in general. Not as aggressively hopped as some of Weird Beard's other offerings and a good entry point to their range.
