Appearance: hazy orange / amber with a huge white steady head and nice lacing.

Aroma: very hoppy, citrusy, sweet, flowery, some herbs and pine, nice maltiness, caramel. There's a lot of good things there but what I don't like is the bubble gum notes in the back. But despite that, aroma is good.

Taste: sweet, malty with lots and lots of citrusy hops and resin. You can't taste the high ABV on this one. Medium to high bitterness, which is both citrus and herbal. Actually this is one of the best IIPAs I've tried.

Mouthfeel: medium to full bodied, rather high carbonation (or medium to high).

Overall: maybe not the best IIPA, but still a very good beer, very enjoyable. This was Batch 3. Every batch is hopped differently from what I read, so I don't know how the previous batches were hopped and how the bitterness was, but here I guess it lacks something. Something like... from Mikkeller's 1000IBU. This beer would be amazing if the bitterness and maybe mouthfeel would be similar (not identical, there's no reason to copy stuff) to 1000IBU. Still, a very enjoyable and worth recommending beer.

Enjoyed from a teku glass.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of April 2014. Picked up a little while back from Trembling Madness in York. Described on the label as a double IPA hopped with Green Bullet, Columbus, Pacific Gem and Dr. Rudi.

Poured into a Delirium chalice. Bottle conditioned. A deep, hazy coppery-orange hue with plenty of fine sediment and medium carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a surface layer. Aroma of intensely fruity hops with notes of pine resin, dank weed, grapefruit, orange peel, citrus, tropical fruit, herbs and grass/hay. Underpinned by sweet caramel malt and earthy yeast, with hints of spice and a touch of booze in the background. A potent blend.

Tastes of powerful aromatic hops and sweet malt, with a prolonged bitter finish. Notes of pine, dank weed, aromatic herbs, grapefruit, orange peel, citrus, tropical fruit, grass/hay, sweet caramel malt, spice, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Some residual sweetness and a hint of alcohol, followed by an extreme hoppy bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with light carbonation and a lovely, chewy body. Hop oils tantalise the tastebuds to the point of numbness. Highly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, sweet malt and earthy yeast.

Good stuff; an impressive effort. Looks OK, if rather hazy. The aroma and flavour are overwhelmed by spicy, pine-laden hops, sweet malt and earthy yeast. Nice thick body, though enhanced carbonation would improve the texture. A true hop-bomb that leaves no tastebud unfrazzled - definitely one for the hop-heads. If that's your thing then give it a whirl.

330ml bottle bought online from Ales By Mail

Poured a deep coppery russet colour. Creamy head with some coppery tinges poured quite thick and rocky then faded to nice light ring around the edge of the glass. Barely any carbonation... some light frothy lacing...

Aroma - Lots of spicy piney hops, strong floral / perfume notes, peppery, herbal notes, caramel / honey sweetness, some burnt sugar notes, spicy fruits (apricots, oranges, some light figs), strong resinous notes, some saltiness, toasted bread, light biscuity malts, some faint leathery traces, grassy, quite a lot of alcohol coming through...

Taste – Very strong peppery and floral hop bitterness to the fore. Once the hops have subsided some piney hints appear. Light honey and caramel sweetness, some spicy fruits (bitter oranges, tart apples, some figs), herbal, some anise, toasted bread, some woody notes, alcohol not too noticeable...

M&D - Quite sharp initially then mellows to quite a syrupy smoothness. Medium bodied... Certainly not the most drinkable beer due to the hop blast and the high alcohol... it is quite refreshing though...

Overall - An excellent full on hoppy IPA... reminded me a lot of Sierra Nevada Bigfoot. Definitely recommended...

Apearance was a little cloudy, opening the bottle resulted in an explosion of foam, over carbonated, or maybe it needed to be a lot cooler.

Smell, hops, hops, hops, more hops and honey malt.

Whatever the hops, they don't say, this was awesome, the taste crisp, bitter, and floral. Very powerful citrus and floral to start, with a long bitter finish, not opressive, but impressive.

Having been allowed to calm down, perfect, well balanced mouth feel.

I think my favourite beer ever, in the IPA style!

This time round an 8.5% ABV Double IPA using some of the newer 'new world' hops. We have Dr Rudi (Super Alpha), Green Bullet, Pacific Gem and Columbus (not quite new world, but we never said there were rules here). Expect sweet fruits in the form of Papaya, mango, grapefruit pith, along with toffee and caramelised sugar. As a double IPA also expect huge bitterness lingering behind all those late hops.
