A traditional German beer style that was all but extinct 30 years ago. An amazingly refreshing beer brewed with coriander and sea salt. The tart, dry finish combined with the hint of salt and citrus leaves your palate craving another sip.

Poured into a hefeweizen glass. Color was a slightly hazy golden amber, with a very thin bright white head. Head didn't last long, but had nice cling, with numerous streams of carbonation rising from the bottom. Not really cloudy at all. Aroma had a small hit of bitter, but a nice malty smell, with some citrus that had a bit of kick to it from a tad of spice. Flavor was a tart lemony with a strong salty note. Not overpoweringly so, but enough to stand out. Dry in the mouth, but yet had a bit of stickiness at the same time that was odd. Overall, a nice change from the norm. Flavor was bit unusual to be sessionable, but was nicely drinkable with no real downsides.

On tap at Lost Nation Brewing in Morrisville, VT.

Pours a muddy, cloudy, straw-yellow color, with a very small head, and no real lacing.

Smells like strong citrus, with salt, lactic acid, and lemon all over the place.

This is probably the best Gose that I've ever had. As it warms up, the salt becomes more pronounced, but right after its poured, the salt is there, but not overwhelming. There is some medium-strength sourness, crisp and tart, lingering on the lips for a little bit, with an orange and grapefruit fruitiness as well.

This one is fairly light bodied, with a medium amount of carbonation, and a lingering acidity. Goes down really easily.

The hype for this one is deserved, just really tasty. Salty and sour actually does work well!

Served in a tulip.

Lacy and fizzy pale white head. Sticky white lace sits over a bright, golden body. 5

Saline, kind of a peachy profile I often get from goses, and it's wheaty and tart. 4.25

Delicious wheaty, slightly fruity and lemony before salt cuts in. A floral and peachy flavor pervade. Just excellent. 4.25

Tartness is there but not over the top and the saltiness is plenty noticeable and really dries the beer out. Light sweetness adds another element and the mouthfeel is refreshing but still sticks to the mouth and has some substance to it. 4.5

Awesome beer. Just awesome.

16oz can from MattyB203 (thanks). Canned 5/22/15. Served in a goblet.

Pours a hazy, pale orange hued yellow with two and a half fingers of white head that dissolves rapidly. A thin and incomplete halo leaves no lace.

Smells tart. Faint lemon, mild spice and some funky hay.

The taste is not at all out of line for the style but seems subdued. Earthy hay, salt, coriander and a hint of grass. No alcohol presence, as expected. The vibrancy I'm used to just isn't here.

Light body with very faint carbonation. While I'm a fan beer with soft carbonation it really does not suit this style. Aftertaste is salty with some earthy pale grains.

While gose is not by any means a favorite style of mine, I've had several really tasty iterations. Lost Nation's is an unfortunate miss for me. Its lifeless appearance, muted flavor and lack of meaningful carbonation made it too dull for me to enjoy. I'm sure that under the right circumstances this could be quite good but my experience leaves me looking elsewhere to sate any gose cravings I might get.

growler poured into taster - thanks alex

Hazy straw yellow pour, thin wispy layer of white foamy head dissolves quickly. Tart and briny on the nose, lemon peel with soft acidity. Snap of soft tartness and acidity up front on the tongue. Hints of citrus and lemon with a salty tang. Straw and hay, lightly funky. Lighter body, bubbly and refreshing on the tongue.

This was my first Lost Nation beer and I was definitely impressed. I'm excited to see more breweries producing this style, which is particularly refreshing on a warm, breezy summer evening.

Appearance: 3/4 inch head, high carbonation, gold yellow in color, clear

Smell: salt and wheat

Taste: big wheat, peach, orange, and salt

Mouthfeel: light body, sweet with prickly saltiness, medium-high carbonation

Overall: A nice and peachy example of the style. Never had a gose like this. Tastes like a Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat with a gose's saltiness. Would definitely get this again.

On tap at the brewery.

A: Straw colored with a slight haze. Head is thin but it sticks around.

S: Toasty malt and coriander, with a very faint funky edge.

T: Salt is right up front, blends well with the coriander and malts. I'd like a little more sourness but it tastes great.

M: Full and satisfying for a low ABV beer (the salt?). No astringency or other defects.

O: Gose seems to be the flavor of the month in VT right now; a very good example.

Had at Lost Nation Brewing in Morrisville, VT. Pours a clear golden color with a small head that fades, spotty lacing. Smell is sweet and tart, hints of lemon. Taste is just sweet enough, and then a nice tart punch near the end. Middle has some bready malts, honey, and lemon. Feels super light and easy to drink, refreshing carbonation on the tongue. Overall a great gose by Lost Nation.
