This joint was next door to our hotel (The Williamsburg Ho House). The place was nice and relaxed with enough space to enjoy ones self.

The quality of the beer was real nice, with a cask of williamsburg alewerks coffee porter on the pullman.

The service was slow but friendly & with a smile too. Seemed fairly knowlegable as well.

The tap list on my visit was good, legend- miabock, brown & IPA McConneleys dry irish stout & red And of course the cask of coffee porter by Williamsburg alewerks was the star of the show. Fuller's ESB & a nice helles as well as other stuff.

Did not personaly eat at this lcation but folks in our group were not disappointed with the grub.

$6 + a pint was a little steep, but that said the have lots of deals. Tues til 9pm east coast beers 1/2 off so that was nice.

Went by for lunch on a Saturday during vacation based on a recommendation here from BA.

Definitely a old run down college bar, but in a good way. Lots of character. Good vibe.

Draft list was very good with plenty of local beers, which was nice if you want to try what Virginia has to offer. But, also a good number of regional and national beers.

The food was better than expected based on the look of the place. Standard burgers and bar food, but very well done. The surprise was how reasonable everything was. $5 or $6 for pints, but then the burgers and sandwiches were too.

It was dead when we arrived, but more starting coming in. Service was great and the bartender was nice to talk with.

Very good if you are looking for something low-key with a good tap list in Williamsburg

Went here after a trip to Willamsburg Alewerks.

The wife and I showed up mid day on a Saturday and it was completely dead. The place is kind of shabby but hey it's a pub. Very pubby feel to it.

There are tap handles mounted around the walls kind of like crown molding, it was really neat to look around at all of the taps. Tables are old and severely dinged up, smells kind of funny in there, kind of like bleach+poo.

Service was great, our waitress knew what they had on tap and all that - very attentive.

Selection was good, the menu is separated by region which was neat. I got a local brew - O'connor irish stout

Food was good - i got the french dip and it was AWESOME. :) Fries are the shizzle there. The wife got a flatbread pizza and it was lame.

Overall this was a cool place, I plan on coming back

Hit up Green Leafe on 10/13 on a day trip to Williamsburg. Yea, we were suppose to check out the sights and ended up here most of the afternoon. Oops!
Bar is true local bar feel. All wooden fixtures and decor. Dart boards were present. Looks like the front may serve more predominantly as the eating area, as the bar is set in to the back. Above the bar are tons and tons of tap handles ... pretty cool decor.
Being an out of towner, there was a great selection of brews that aren't available in New England - Blue Mountain, St. George, Tuppers, Bluegrass, Bell's, Greenflash, Rogue, and other local gems that I can't recall right now.
Bartender/Server was pleasant, came over and joked and laughed with us a bit.
Food was ok. Menu seems like it would be phenomenal, but it kind of fell short. Flat bread pizzas aren't a true flat bread, wings were decent, but based off what they had, I expected a bit better food.
I really dug the feel of the atmosphere of this place, and will most definitely hit this place up on my next visit down to VA.

Arrived in Williamsburg last night. family was looking for dinner and i was looking to make sure we could find a place that served a good selection of beer. The selection was a little better than average with nothing truly unique. It did provide an opportunity to try several local selections. The service was good but i also noticed staff more concerned with talking to their friends than making sure customers had a full pint. The noise level was almost unbearable and it was hard to hear the person at your own table. The menu has a little something for everyone. There is a large selection of burgers some being unique. We went with Nachos and burgers. The burgers were very good.

Just returned from a meal at this W & M hangout. Yes, the parking is tough as you drive along the narrow alley next to the building into the rear parking loot which had a huge lake of mysterious water in the middle of it.

At first glance, I like the decor. It looks a bit like a British pub with plenty of stained glass, snug walls and seating along the side of the walls. Why can't American pubs look more like these? Why do we have to have so many beer signs and bad posters of previous mass market beer campaigns? Anyway, they had nice black and white beer posters from Green Leafe events.

The beer list was above average; although seeing the listing of Shocktop from Williamsburg is a bit disingenuous. There was nothing exceptional on the draft list. I had a brown ale on cask from the local Alewerks that was fine, almost like a mild. My wife had an IPA from another local brewery that was anything but pale. Much of the rest of the draft list was not anything to get excited about: Stella, Guinness, Magic Hat, etc. But no Dogfish on draft in Williamsburg, VA?? (NB: they do have Bombardier ESB from Britain, a personal fave!)

The bottle list is better: Green Flash, Victory, Stone, Dogfish, but not much from the midwest, other than Bells.

The food was fine but basic. I had a nice shrimp po boy and my son had a flash fried club sandwich. Basic bar food.

While we were enjoying the end of our meal, however, they ruined the atmosphere by a professional DJ who started playing hip-hop. Recently, I just went to a beer festival in KC where they had a similar idiotic idea. Beer folks don't like hip-hop. We like classic rock or alternative, or alt-country, etc. But hip-hop simply grates on the nerves of someone trying to enjoy the hop aroma of a beer and discussing the finer details of the brews. So, stop it.

I've been here a few times now, but my most recent visit sparked my desire to voice my opinion. First of all, the parking is terrible. A narrow lane behind the building into a dirt lot with barely enough room to park, let alone get out is your only option.

The bar itself is very nice, the crowd is usually very good, and the place is always clean. The staff however, on my last visit, were more interested in talking with their friends than they were with serving anyone. It was like pulling teeth to get a beer, and it wasn't even crowded. There were even 3 people serving beer. The 2nd round? We had to get another server to get it, and the bartender didn't even notice. Being as honorable as I am, I told him we got another round and practically forced him to get my tab.

As far as selection goes, there are plenty of reasons to visit. Good variety of local brews, Belgian and English imports, and American crafts, like Bell's, are readily available. They even usually have a cask selection.

Food and price points are tasty and entirely reasonable. Nice place, but they really need to work on their staff, or at least tell them that they'll probably make more money if they pay attention to their customers.

As a student at the College, I frequent the Green Leafe. First of all, the food is rather mediocre and the food next door at Paul's is much better. However, the Leafe blows Paul's and the College Delly (located across the street) out of the water when it comes to beer selection. They have 30+ different beers on tap, most of which are very solid to excellent craft selections, with only a few macro swill selections. They also have an enormous list of bottles from which one may choose. Great deals throughout the week, such as $3 micros on Mondays and discounted VA beers on Thursday I believe. Good, rustic pub atmosphere that is great for having a few pints with friends or even professors. Better pricing than most places and a good selection of other alcohol. Music can be annoying and too loud to talk over some nights. Check it out if you are in the area.

Dropped in for dinner after a day at Busch Gardens, 8/11/10.

Nice looking place. We headed in the side door. Long bar on the left, with a bunch of tables on the right. Brightly lit, but otherwise a great local vibe. Truthfully, we were excited to find a place that was not a tourist trap or chain restaurant. Thanks, Beerfly!

Good quality selections with a strong local contingent. I have to admit it cracked me up to see Bud and Shock Top listed in the "Virginia beer" section. I mean, it's true, I'm sure, but still silly.

Beyond the Va. macro, some Legend and St. George on tap. Sadly, the ones on tap were not that great. Whether this is generally true of those breweries I do not know.

Beyond that there were some nice broadly distributed crafts such as Two Hearted (freshest keg of Two Hearted I have ever had, so kudos!) and Unearthly.

Food was quite good as well. We stuck to the pub food but everyone was happy with the burgers and chicken sandwiches.

Service was pleasant but incompetent. Long waits for service, no place settings until we asked, food not cleared even though we were done for 15 minutes before we left. But all service was provided (or not provided) with a smile and good cheer.

All in all, I'd still go back, so check it out.
