From bottle, Pours a lightly hazy honey-amber with a tight white head that laces well. Aromas of passionfruit, lemon, grapes and cut grass. Taste is tropical fruit at first, followed up by a grapefruit zest bitterness.

330ml into tulip

A - hazy, orange, pours a thin white head.

S - fresh pine and a tropical fruit basket - guava, passionfruit, kiwi fruit. nice

T - fruit flavours up front as well - peach, guava, lime. Bit of sherbet-like frizzle. Mild resin like bitterness towards the end, short finish.

F - light to medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dryish texture (not as dry as other IPAs).

O - agreed with the label - this is a great sessionable IPA - ABV and bitterness is not too overpowering, yet the hoppy fruitiness is there in spades. Hope it gets out into the market more.

Hazy orangey/straw colour in the glass with bits of yeast visible. Plenty of floral aromas with grassy scent in there too. Slightly fruity taste with the dry hops dominating the aftertaste but not overcooked. Carbonation fine although a little light in the body. Overall it does what it says on the tin. A very palatable session IPA. Would certainly have it again although not truly memorable.

Another day, another IPA - this time it’s the work of Hendo, an all-round decent chap/brewer. Hendo (aka BrewCult) isn’t out to bash your tastebuds with extreme brews, he likes finessed flavour in his beers. As such BrewCult has created this new breed of “Sessionable IPA” (which coincidentally abbreviates to “SIPA”), which is an IPA that has those hop driven IPA notes without the 6%+ ABV. Kudos if he can pull it off.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a nonic pint.

A: Hazy auburn-orange body with a wispy white head that reduces to a nice easy lace for a head. Not bad, looks like a right tasty IPA. 8/10.

S: Wow, big fruity and sweet with tropical hop notes (think more mango/lychee than anything else) followed by an overripe jackfruit providing a high fructose saccharine hit. If the flavour is as big as the aroma my mouth is in for a bloody good party. 9/10.

T: The flavour flattens out the above characters a tad, don’t get me wrong it’s still good, but there was this syrupiness to the nose that really had me excited and the flavour is a touch muted. Also the hops upfront are more pine/citric than tropical, balanced out by a caramel base that detract from an initial bitterness and finish with a hint of butterscotch. 7/10.

M: Mid to light bodied with a dense but fizzy carbonation, a touch over-carbonated to be a real session ale (for me at least - I have trouble with a hiccup reflex if I drink anything fizzy). 5/10.

D: I might have sounded overly negative above, so I’ll balance this review out with some “this is still a decent IPA, that lives up to the sessionable name”, and some “overall I think it is good and would buy it again”... however - it isn’t going to replace Feral Hop Hog or Little Creatures Pale Ale in my regular fridge rotation anytime soon, though I do commend the one man brewery that is Hendo in his efforts and look forward to his future endeavours, keep up the good work! 8/10.

Food match: Vietnamese, something Pho-ish, or a Pad Thai (consumer advice: always ask for fresh chilli when you buy a Pad Thai - they’ll give you a container of the good stuff).

looks clear, good head, and from there on in it's all grapefruit, tangerine and lychee. Really quite potent.
AND
Let's face it, this is an excellent beer to drink all night, and at this ABV, many brewers would struggle to get the flavour into the glass.
Well done.

On tap at Cammeray Craft.

Pours a pale orange colour, more pale on edge. Head is white, small bubbles, some dense foam on the edge. Decent retention. Bit pale-looking but ok.

Smells fruity, with passion and pine and a big citrus edge, giving way to resiny hop oils. Pleasant aroma, maybe could use more malt character.

Taste is pine needly upfront, with a fair amount of resin coming through. Notes of passionfruit and an earthy note reminiscent of POR late-mid. Finishes quite earthy with lingering bitterness. Not bad, could use a bit more of that fruit character from the nose. Otherwise good hoppy palate.

Thin, touch of fizz. Smoothes up late but still a touch thin.

A decent IPA, quite smooth and pleasant.

500ml brown bottle purchased from Slowbeer in Melbourne by Sarah and given to me by Sarah.

Pours a very heavily hazed orange-golden colour, with a bubbly but quite persistent head of white that leaves some patches of fairly tight lace. Carbonation is hard to find in the haze, but looks fairly fine. Body is fluid, but a little bit heavier than expected.

Nose is rather good—Simcoe-heavy, but certainly hoppy and fresh. Surprisingly, as it warms a little more of the sharper, grape-like Nelson Sauvin comes through, adding a nice piquancy to the aroma. The basis is pretty solid too: some nutty malt to give it depth, but otherwise fairly broad and neutral, with just enough weight to support it. Pretty nice.

Taste is noticeably weaker, but given its goal that's probably not surprising. Light entry with more than anything a grainy malt character, before the sweetness drops away very quickly, leaving a water and rather vacant mid-palate. Finish has a clean tolling of hops, slightly nutty and a little earthy, and certainly not overpowering. Very clean and very drinkable.

Feel is very good: light but smooth with a touch of crispness on the back to enhance the drinkability.

An excellently drinkable beer from Brew Cult. The aroma could be even more potent and I wouldn't complain, but as it is, it provides a flavoursome, sessionable beer with great aplomb. Quite a cracker from Hendo.

Pours a hazed golden hue with a fluffy three finger head and sporadic lacing, the smell is pineapple, lychee, piney hops and citrus it reminds me alot of the founders all day IPA,the mouthfeel is light bodied and sessionable and damn this is just like the all day IPA with tastes of pineapple, lychee, piney bitter hops and finished with a distinct crisp citrus bitterness and overall it's nice and is what it's meant to be but def founders all day's doppelgänger cheers.
