Appearance is black and opaque. Poured with a small but sturdy head.
Odor was mostly roasted malt. Some coffee and dark sweet as well.
Taste is pretty close to the smell. Some molasses and dark caramel sweet come through. The roasted malt is first and is followed by a yeasty note. A little breadyness comes through.
Mouth feel is pretty middle of the road. Moderate body and has some decent carbonation. Flows pretty easily over the tongue.
Overall, a good solid beer. Mix of styles perhaps. Worth a second try.

On-tap at Mission Dolores, Brooklyn, NY
A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that died down, leaving a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark and roasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste shares some similarities with the smell, but is somewhat more complex with notes of Belgian yeast and slight hints of dark fruits. There also hints of a strange taste that I can't put my finger on.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer tastes like a hybrid between a Belgian Dark Ale and a porter. It's not that difficult to drink.

So this is nowhere near being a quad. Somebody misnamed this bad boy.
It's more in line with a well-crafted stout.
If you've had the great fortune of having a Southern Star Buried Hatchet Stout, then you know what this beer is about.
No Belgian yeast, candy sugar, or carbonation that you'd associate with a quad is present. Just a yummy, toasted malt that makes me think of autumn days and hazelnut chocolate.
Nowhere near being true to the style, but all the same a beautiful beer.
Quad? What were you guys thinking??? Stout? Now we're talking!

Picked up a growler of this less than an hour ago, enjoyed from a FFF teku.
Brew pours a deep chestnut brown that settles in the glass as black. The thin grey head doesn't hang out long.
Nose is a really nice nutty plum. Brown sugar and lots of toasted malt.
Taste is big roasted malt followed by a nice dark fruit and then washed over with nuts and toasted malt. Oaty. Definitively has a FFF feel to the flavor...
Mouth is really nice and even. Medium to full bodied. Doesn't feel creamy like a quad by any means...but easy drinking.
Overall I dug this beer. For a quad, not so much...but as a beer, very tasty. Apparently this is a half Belgian strong quad? Motive point is a bit high, but extremely happy to be able to find something like this locally.
