they may do this one with a different hop each time. i enjoyed the nelson edition on tap at backcountry pizza in boulder. its a light colored brew, almost yellow, but plenty heady in the glass, and with an amazing aroma, as true to nelson as can be. tropical aromas of pineapple, passion fruit, and tangy citrus all resonate. there is a yeast aroma too, almost bretty or saison-esque, but really mild and in the back. the grain bill is super light, pale really, which lets this unique hop shine, and its a beautiful expression of one of my favorite strains. its so clean, but the hops are so forward. the booze kicks in a little, as does that yeast, which is hard to tell if its intentional or not. if it is, genius, if not, happy accident. big passion fruit flavor from the hops, and a long tangy finish. this is a new kind of big ipa, that doesnt feel big at all. its about big flavor, not but palate weight, and i like that a lot, especially with nice weather coming soon. this is a killer brew all told, and verboten has impressed me a whole lot. i have to find a way to get up there before too long here...

Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a snifter, the beer is a bright, amber0coper coloring, with a tall, fluffy, clingy, off-white head. Nose of grapefruit, melon, orange rind, and tangy caramel. Flavors are a citrus blast forward, with a resinous and piney backbone. Very dank and sticky under the sugary fruit sweetness. Robust, slick bodied, with a mossy, grassy, resinous hops aftertaste. The finish is slick, silky, and dry. Big beer, and damn tasty!
